A lot of people seem to like him so he's probably good, I have some albums by him which i got as gifts, never taken the time to listen to them.
NP- Mountain Jam, I'm halfway through |
I like him, if you can get past his voice, he's great.
Are you saying Tom Waits' voice is bad? |
Are you saying Tom Waits' voice is bad?
It's just a little....gravelly. Not out-right bad, it just takes some getting used to. |
how many albums do you guys own?
I have fifty-something... |
Even by the mighty standards of Zappa, that CD absolutely owns basically everything else out of existence.
Which one? Rain Dogs was the first one I got by him, which is still my favourite, but yeah, he is pretty good. I can see how his voice would be a massive turn-off for anyone listening to him for the first time though. It took me quite a few listens of his music to get into it at all, although his voice did grow on me.
Likewise, I had to listen through the Tom Waits albums I got a few times before I began to like them and they really are great once you get used to his vocals. I have The Heart of Saturday Night and have heard a few tracks off his others albums. |
I saw Richard Thompson last night, he is such an incredible guitarist. At many times I was drop-jawed in awe at his strumming methods

I like some classic rock songs like Thunderstruck Whole lotta rosie Smoke on the water When the lady smiles Whatever you want etc. etc.

Whole Lotta Rosie is a cool song. Probably in my top five for favourite AC/DC songs...the entire Let There Be Rock album owns. I think it's the best AC/DC album by far. I've got several hundred albums. |
Kill Bill is easily Tarantino's greatest film.

In my school most rock fans like gothic crap like slipknot. Some like punk, hard rock but theres not much of a classic rock following. The most popular rock bands are probably metallica and blink 182. Classic rock ROCKS. Led Zep, The who, Kinks, beatles etc. r all great.

I think he is late too^

Cool. |
ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?
This is the thread for general classic rock discussion.
d00d, mi 2! classik rock iz makin a hug kombak at mi skool. i liek led zeppielen jimmy hendricks!!!!! :thumb: |

Wow you're such a n00b! Anyways, I don't own very many albums (on CD that is)....26 albums on CD (not including any CDs or vinyls my parents own)....most of my money goes toward car, drum equipment, or new computer parts (as I have my own computer, I have to keep it up to snuff to play modern games). My list: Rubber Soul Revolver Sgt. Pepper's Magical Mystery Tour White Album Yellow Submarine Songtrack (new version) Let it Be....Naked Abbey Road 1 (all the above by The Beatles) Plastic Ono Band Imagine (above two by John Lennon) Disraeli Gears (Cream) Led Zeppelin II (duh) In Rock (Depp Purple) Paranoid (Black Sabbath) Benefit Aqualung (above two by Jethro TUll) Who's Next Who Are You (both by The Who) Dark Side of the Moon (Pink FLoyd) Secret Treaties DOn't Fear the Reaper (best of) (both by Blue Oyster Cult) Back in Black (AC/DC) Ride the Lightning (Metallica) Some Micheal Allen Harrison Live at Benson CD A Mozart CD Plus I'm 'borrowing' (I.e. has had for past four years) Black Album by Metallica |

Yes, I have. And Kill Bill is better. |
Wow....I have no words for that last comment....just wow......
|
Wow....I have no words for that last comment....just wow......
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Pulp Fiction is a horrible movie, I'm saying that I think Kill Bill was a more creative, more themed, and more action packed movie than Pulp Fiction. /run-on |
I probably have around 100 cds, but a lot more from the YSI threads :D
And I didn't like Kill Bill  |
Kill Bill is easily Tarantino's greatest film.
/late
Nah (IMO), but have you seen every Tarantino related movie? Including ones he's only wrote and such.
more themed
Explain this |
Did anyone see the CSI season finale that Tarantino co-wrote? It's one of the, maybe, two shows I regularly watch, and it's great.
|
CSI (Las Vegas) is the greatest show on TV. (IMO)
I didn't like Tarantino's season finale it just wasn't of the CSI style. |
how many albums do you guys own?
I have fifty-something...
Almost 400, I think.
CSI (Las Vegas) is the greatest show on TV. (IMO)
24? The Daily Show? |
I'm thinking about getting a name change to.....
Mister Blue Sky. I'm in love with that song. |
"Mr. Blue Sky" by ELO
That's a good song. 24 > CSI EDIT: WOAH, same time and the same song. I had no idea you were writing that -- divine. |
