I enjoyed Korn until whatever album followed Issues and Follow The Leader really wasn't that good. Underoath has always put out quality material, I need to check out Aaron's band The Almost sometime

Conservationist 11-05-2009 06:29 AM

New Slayer is an improvement, if you ask me.

"World Painted Blood is both a return to form and transition for Slayer. The heavy riffs are back, but the songs are written more like AC/DC would write them. The result is a toe-tapping, fist-pumping, blasphemy-screaming ride through hell on an economy ticket. It's not the progrock-influenced epic style of older Slayer, but it's a quick study and a ripping terror: simple but effective."

Roughly what I think of it. It's not old Slayer, but it's better than anything since Seasons in the Abyss.

Replace the National Day of Prayer!

Bazarov 11-15-2009 05:36 PM

I thought this was only for when 06/06/06 rolled around. They still are doing this? Oh well. Too bad no local radio station will play Slayer 24hrs for the day. I mean ****, for 2 Christmases one radio station played 24 hours of Metallica... ugh. Good thing I don't listen to the radio anymore.

Nostalgia 11-15-2009 07:28 PM

Apparently!

But it's hard to really hate Slayer, although some people do it.

Hell, some people hate Possessed.

Disappointing album, where'd the intensity go?

In its compression I bet.

I hate how labels ask engineers to do this.

Conservationist 11-17-2009 05:15 PM

I agree. It totally loses dynamic and texture. Distortion sounds more like a keyboard.

Bazarov 11-17-2009 11:42 PM

Slayer lost their intensity around South of Heaven man.... it's an alright album, Seasons is so-so Divine Intervention kinda blows... then, well the rest sucks.

AA-12 11-18-2009 07:27 AM

hahaha this thread :x

Stevie 11-19-2009 12:22 PM

Countorus 11-19-2009 05:35 PM

Bazarov 11-19-2009 07:37 PM

they're just a bunch of old dudes now. Pretty soon they'll be turning their concert volumes down and come on stage using hover 'rounds.

lak89 11-21-2009 12:45 PM

i really hope i get to see them before they retire, i missed them this time round on their tour in australia..

Jude 11-21-2009 12:46 PM

I used to hear them back before I got into Opeth and In Flames and be like "God damn that sounds horrible just a bunch of noise"

Then I just heard a review of their new album on NPR, of all places, and I was just like, "damn, that sounds really bland"

You should. Slayer concerts are an experience.

I understand this viewpoint. It mirrors mine, except that I think they're trying to make enough cash to retire, and for commercial radio metal, their latest is exceptional.

I will still probably stick to my BLASPHEMY and DEMILICH CDs instead :)

Kwote 11-25-2009 12:14 AM

They play insanely fast and heavy with no shame and I give em props for that. I think the coolest thing to come from Slayer is the double kick drum setup!

south_of_heaven 11 01-14-2010 08:05 AM

you should listen to more slayer.

i really liked god hates us all, i don't see whats wrong with that album.

Bazarov 01-14-2010 07:45 PM

That's good for you. You're allowed to listen to shitty music all you want. But really, God Hates Us All and anything after that album is definitely the worst material Slayer have ever released.

Meatplow 01-14-2010 10:42 PM

Bloodline is still pretty catchy

I used to think Warzone was the be all end all on the top of the scale of how heavy metal can get

no, seasons was awesome

South of Heaven is the best.

Intensity =/= Good

South of Heaven had better solos. better riffs, and ten times better drumming than anything else they have done.

pate 01-15-2010 12:46 PM

South of Heaven is terrible.

south_of_heaven 11 01-15-2010 12:49 PM

good joke.
