Well he was told to vocalize like that on OWN. He had to bridge the gap between his style and Mike DiSalvo's atrocious style.

The result, of course, is him barking like a dog for 45 minutes.

That's unfair imo. The highs he does on that album are incredibly sad though, they're the perfect example of his lack of practice.

he has some weak moments technically but he still sounds like the Tasmanian devil and it fits perfectly.

Sceptre of the Ancients. he is great on that album.
