Just back from the Katatonia + Long Distance Calling gig. LDC was so good. I bought Avoid the Light vinyl and met with the bassist and one of the guitarists. They were such good guys. Ugh I wish they were headlining.
AHandfulOfSweatpants 03-10-2010 05:14 PM

Russian Circles were fantastic live, just saw them here a few months ago.

gszeto 03-10-2010 08:56 PM

Loving the latest from DC's Caverns.

Normally a harder fusion of proggy guitars and jazzy piano, they went atmospheric with their new EP. They are streaming it off their bandcamp: http://cavernsdc.bandcamp.com/

AHandfulOfSweatpants 03-10-2010 09:51 PM

Anyone been listening to Dysrhythmia's latest? Another incredible offering of atonal-spastic-fusion madness.

SlincoJ 03-10-2010 09:59 PM

Check my bad www.myspace.com/newwingsforwords yeah those songs are a bit standard but whatever when it's live its bowel quakingly thunderous and thats good enough for the moment.

Also A Silver Mt Zion are coming to toronto in May, I'm pumped. Just thought I'd say.

didn't know they released a new album. gonna check it out.

Nepenthe 03-13-2010 02:05 PM

Ventriloquist 03-13-2010 05:37 PM

I got Barriers and Passages on vinyl <3 Gonna check the new one out tomorrow.

Tyler 03-13-2010 05:59 PM

saw 'And So I Watch You From Afar' the other night. Never heard their albums but they were outstanding live. They'd allegedly been awake for over 40 hours but you'd never have known it.

Txus 03-13-2010 06:05 PM

you should get their albums, pretty great band

Ventriloquist 03-13-2010 09:34 PM

one of the best performances i've ever seen. their latest ep rules.

Tyler 03-13-2010 10:41 PM

they really were so good, they apparently came straight from belfast to the venue. the ginger guy spent some time in the crowd and they were heavier than i imagined.

Nepenthe 03-13-2010 11:31 PM

yeah their self titled is ****ing awesome

been on a tesa and irepress kick today

Nepenthe 03-15-2010 01:31 PM

listening to this band called note right now. very good. they dont necessarily have a very unique sound but for some reason i cant think of a band to compare them to, they change things up quite a bit, its pretty refreshing. theyre more along the from monument to masses or god is an astronaut lines of style, fast paced and whatnot, but they dont sound exactly like them. def worth checking out.

album is my city of ghosts, stars, and hours

this is prob the first post rock band ive ever said this about, their guitar solos are ****ing amazing. theyre almost like randy rhoads-like or something, its awesome.

Ventriloquist 03-15-2010 10:52 PM

Been listening to a band called Slow Six lately. They are alright their 2010 album has some pretty sweet tracks but they don't have that much of a definitive sound. If you're craving for some post-rock with sweet string bits check it out. Slow Six - Tomorrow Becomes You

Nepenthe 03-15-2010 11:37 PM

ive got their nor'easter album. pretty good ish.

ugh first track on from monument to masses' last album is so good

Nepenthe 03-16-2010 12:07 AM

double posting is necessary when talking about how ****ing great vanessa van basten's psygnosis EP is. heaviest post rock band in existence.

Txus 03-16-2010 07:44 AM

i only have La Stanza di Swedenborg and i really cant remember how that album sounds like.

Ventriloquist 03-17-2010 12:02 PM
