Drunken Viking 01-21-2006 11:51 PM
I'm looking for any bands that are along the lines of the new Avenged Sevenfold, City Of Evil Avenged Sevenfold.
So yeah...

Shattered_Future 01-21-2006 11:53 PM

You could go with power metal, or even some hair metal as well. :thumb:

Hair metal I'm not at all familiar with, but power metal, on the other hand:

Sonata Arctica
Dungeon
Edguy
Sabaton
Dream Evil

Those are all good places to start.

Drunken Viking 01-22-2006 12:13 AM

I've tried some power metal, are any of those bands like Hammerfall, because they don't appeal so much to me. And also, I'm looking for a band without synthesisers or keyboards like Sonata Arctica. I guess another way of saying what I'm looking for is... Dual guitars, mostly harmonized with solo's in most of the songs, and leads throughout, also not exactly a rythym and lead player, but more dual lead guitars like Iron Maiden. Some decent muscianship with the drums and bass would be good, and the bass should be audible. The vocals are mostly sung, some screaming is acceptable but not to much. And with that the vocals could be somewhat naisly, I liked M. Shadows voice on the new album from A7X (as you can see from my avator). Lyricaly, not bland and unoriginal stuff, I'd prefer some original stuff. E.g. if the band was power metal band then the lyrics main focus wouldn't be science fiction, or fantasy.

Apocalyptic Raids 01-22-2006 12:23 AM

Try Forbidden. They're a thrash band frmo the Bay Area, but they have a melodic vocalist. Get the first album, Forbidden Evil.

Also try Heathen, who are also a thrash band similar in style to Forbidden. You can download all their albums from their website. http://www.heathenmetal.com
i want to get into these artists: Derek trucks, Public Enemy,Suicidal Tendencies, King Diamond, The Roots, Rush, Stratovarius, Radiohead, Joy division.
Thanks :chug:
Public Enemy: "It takes a Million to hold us Back"
Suicidal Tendencies: "Suicidal Tendencies" or "How Will i laugh tomorrow when I Can't even smile today"

King Diamond: "Abigail" or "Them"
The Roots: "Things Fall Appart"

Rush:"2112" or "Moving Pictures"
Stratovarius: "The Chosen Ones"
Radiohead: "The Bends" or " OK Computer"
Joy Division:" Substance"

Bartender 01-22-2006 06:44 AM

My personal reccomendation would be that you just avoid Stratovarius. Go for Sonata Arctica instead, if you don't know them yet.

For King Diamond, Abigail, I think. To my shame, I haven't yet heard Blow By Blow, but I can quite heartily recommend You Had It Coming and Guitar Shop alongside it. And I'll just second OK Computer and It Takes a Nation of Millions..

freakmeeko 01-22-2006 09:05 AM

I just got an obsession with jam bands and I'm wondering if I can get a reccomendation for a jazz oriented jam band that's not very famous.

Can someone recommend me some instrumental rock/metal stuff?
