The reason I think the interview is for real is simply because there's never any allusion to it being fake. To be satirical, it would have to make it clear with a disclaimer or something, seeing as it's on a respected fan site amongst genuine interviews. If it wasn't clear, Roger could sue on the grounds of misrepresentation or defamation - especially because he's ripping into so many celebrities.

It has to be for real :smoke:

And I haven't yet heard Phantom of the Opera, but I really want to now :(

Riva 01-05-2007 10:48 PM

I think it really could be satire, since upon reading it again, it seems to mesh almost too well.

rippa32 01-06-2007 04:00 AM

Riva your avatar is awesome. Only an Australian would enjoy it though:thumb:

Yer thats another thing that bugged me with that interview, it just seemed so controlled.

I'd have to say that I'm with Waters when it comes to Andrew Lloyd Webber. Except for Jesus Christ Superstar, which I enjoy. Phantom of the Opera was annoying to me.

Okay, for some time I've been trying to get into Pink Floyd but I've never been able to. I've listened to Piper At The Gates Of Dawn and Dark Side Of The Moon. I usually like weird, spacey stuff but those albums never really did anything for me.

So any chance of me ever getting into PF or are they just not the type of band I can get into?

Well, considering that Piper and Dark Side are two of PF's completely different albums, then yes you could still probably get into Pink Floyd. It seems to me that you might enjoy The Wall more than any of the others I can think of, so give that a listen.

Neoteric 01-06-2007 12:21 PM

Will do. I've always been around people that are constant Pink Floyd lovers and I always sit there thinking, "what's the big deal?".

Yield 01-06-2007 12:23 PM

The Wall was the first one I heard. I saw the movie and just fell in love with it. It's good music if you pay attention to it and Waters is an amazing lyricist (self-titled best in england )

Danger Bird 01-06-2007 12:26 PM

Or WYWH.

Yield 01-06-2007 12:39 PM

I didn't say WYWH because he was saying that he didn't like Dark Side as much. But I'd guess he might like Wish You Were Here if he enjoys the spacey stuff.

Jim 01-06-2007 07:20 PM

Meddle may be his go? Echoes has its "spacey" moments.

Yield 01-06-2007 07:40 PM

Yeah, echoes is a good idea.

If you ask me, this is a list of albums I would get.

Echoes
The Wall
Wish You Were Here
Dark Side Of The Moon
Piper At The Gates Of Dawn

Obviously he doesn't need to give the last two a listen.

Riva 01-06-2007 07:46 PM

I'd say go for Obscured By Clouds and A Saucerful Of Secrets too, since those albums seem to include elements of all of Floyd's later albums.

rippa32 01-06-2007 09:44 PM

Ive been meaning to get Saucerful Of Secrets because I love Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun, are the other songs any good?

Lunch 01-06-2007 09:51 PM

Yea, I think Saucer is a good album on the whole. The Let there be More Light, Remember a Day and the title track are good. And of course Jugband Blues, Syd's last contribution on one of their recordings.

Apocalyptic Raids 01-07-2007 09:49 AM

To be honest I've never paid much attention to Saucerful...

Although I really like watching the title track on Live At Pompeii.

Yield 01-07-2007 11:22 AM

I like the whole album. I like Seesaw and Coporal Clegg. I read in a interview with David Gilmour somewhere that he was asked what instruments could he play. He said a couple and then added that he played kazoo pretty well on Coporal Clegg.

Zebra 01-07-2007 11:27 AM

Jugband Blues is my favorite Pink Floyd song. Saucerful... is to boring as a whole but some tracks are extremely effective if you listen to them seperately.

Yield 01-07-2007 11:33 AM

I feel that way sometimes, but it's not too long. So by the time I feel that way Saucerful is nearly over. So it's not that bad.

Bajs 01-07-2007 11:34 AM

live part of ummagumma is the best floyd album.

Yield 01-07-2007 11:38 AM

I need to put Ummagumma on my list of albums to find. Obscured By Clouds, Ummagumma, The Division Bell, Atom Heart Mother, More, Relics and the Pulse cd are the other Pink Floyd albums I need to get.

edit: I forgot about the Is There Anybody Out There? live album.

Collis 01-07-2007 12:01 PM
live part of ummagumma is the best floyd album.
Oh my god I've got to change my avatar now! I hope you're happy about this ... :thumb:

The Wall live is pretty awesome to be honest, I really like how it begins with the guy speaking and then In The Flesh cutting him out.

Riva 01-07-2007 04:59 PM

Live part of Ummagumma is not the best Floyd album, though it is good. I'd put at least 7 other albums above that one, and even the studio version of Ummagumma if the mood strikes me.

rippa32 01-07-2007 05:28 PM

Ummagumma is another one Ive been looking out for. I've always been meaning to get the earlier stuff and ive already got Meddle to Final Cut, so now is a good time I guess :thumb:

Frequently Tripping 01-07-2007 06:53 PM

Final Cut was far too Watery for me, if you get what I'm saying.

Set the Controls.... is friggin awesome, but the rest of the album drags a bit.

Yield 01-07-2007 08:33 PM
Final Cut was far too Watery for me, if you get what I'm saying.
Yeah, I get what your saying. But that's also one of the reasons why others, such as myself, like it.

rippa32 01-07-2007 08:41 PM

I personally love the more Waters influenced stuff like Animals and The Wall. But I hated The Final Cut because it was boring, it was poetry set to minimilistic backing music.

Riva 01-07-2007 08:47 PM

Remember A Day definitely does not drag on. I think the title track could have been a bit shorter though.

rippa32 01-07-2007 09:11 PM

Sorry if this is off-topic but to that guy who uploaded Echoes In The Garden (thanks heaps for that) Im going to burn them to CD but I don't know where to have CD1 end and CD2 start, do you know? I was just gonna have it so Dark Side + Echoes was CD2 and the rest CD1 because that does make sense and it does fit.

EDIT: Ah nevermind, I just did it that way anyway.
