pitchfork actually really likes some pop music and southern rap, thats one of the reasons i respect them above a lot of other music publications that generally write those genres off

yeah I know, and they dig Gucci and Big Boi and all that; and they splooge over grime/dubstep.

Pitchfork's pretty good. They almost never rate something high when it actually sucks - although they frequently rate albums low when they're pretty good.
