Live ****>AJFA>MoP>RTL>ReLoad>Garage Inc.>St. Anger>KEA>Load>Black>S&M

If you don't have Live **** I HIGHLY recommend you get that sweet thing.

TojesDolan 02-28-2006 08:34 PM

S&M isn't that bad... it's just different. I like the unreleased songs like, No leaf clover and the ecstasy of gold...

then Again, I have weird tastes in music.

Britton 02-28-2006 08:38 PM

I wish I could sing too.

RTL> all other Metallica abums

Got my amp today!

BLS_Infernus 02-28-2006 08:40 PM

The Ecstasy of Gold is the theme they play at the beginning of any concert they do. (or atleast sense 88) I much prefer No Leaf Clover when they don't have the S&M stuff. James's clean tone is so amazing during that. Me needs a Roland JC-120 to add to my rack so I can get that.

I have a wide range of music taste but I just can't listen to S&M
Metallica has produced the best musicians in a long while. Burton was and incredible bassist
As a bassist, I take offense to this. His basslines were average for thrash, and still are. His songwriting, however, is a different story.
kirk is an awsome guitarist
No comment.
lars plays the drums like i play your mom
Ever heard of a guy called Flo Mounier? Derek Roddy? Martin Lopez? Dave Lombardo? Gene Hoglan? Jon Allen? Richard Christy? Hellhammer? Joey goddamn Jordison? Lars is a sub-par drummer, despite fitting Metallica's music. He didn't record the drums for Dyers Eve in one session (I've heard he had many different sessions pasted together), and the drums on St. Anger are looped through ProTools because he was too lazy to actually play the whole tracks for the recording.

Clean singing is tough. I sound like a dying cat if I try to go above my talking range. Growling is tough as well, at certain times. Trying to be Mikael Akerfeldt or Dallas Toler-Wade is easy for me; trying to be "Eaten Back to Life"-era Chris Barnes or Karl Sanders is not.

Stormrider 02-28-2006 09:19 PM

AJFA > MoP = RTL > KEA ...Could change...

I don't have any of the others. And honestly I don't realy mind. I've heard a lot from St. Anger and 1 or 2 songs from the other stuff.

Five Magics 02-28-2006 09:40 PM

what happened to Bob Rock?

Rick Rubin is a serious upgrade dont you think?

Bob Rock turned out one good album. It's long past due for him to be gone.

I wonder what Rubin will do...

Chu 02-28-2006 10:23 PM

What's everyone's gripe against Trapped Under Ice and Escape?
I love both songs, probably more so Escape (One of the, if not best lyrical songs from Metallica imo, on par with Fade To Black..), but Trapped Under Ice is just so good to play!

Arghhh, frustrates me, I wanna know what everyone else sees about them, that I don't (If anyone gets what I mean?)

BLS_Infernus 02-28-2006 10:30 PM

God will you get off Joey Jordison overrated, sloppy dick? He sucks ***.

Ktulu takes the cake IMHO for best instrumental.

Stormrider 02-28-2006 10:51 PM

I take Trapped Under Ice over Escape. It's not the best song off RTL, obviously, but still a good listen.

And yes, Ktutlu is a good intrumental.

He's produced Slayer, RHCP and some rap bands before right?

Oh yeah funk/thrash with rapping on the next Metallica album.

Chu 03-01-2006 01:59 AM

Hey, I wouldn't complain if it was a funk/thrash record!

superdigg 03-01-2006 07:32 AM
Hey, I wouldn't complain if it was a funk/thrash record!
but all the kids on blabbermouth would. in fact, take "funk/thrash" out of the phrase and the blabbermouth kids would still complain.

Jev 03-01-2006 10:19 AM

No matter what, there's always gonna be someone complaining, no matter how good the record is.

penelope weird hands 03-01-2006 10:42 AM

Ahh .. Metallica!
My favourite band years ago.
I was obsessed with Kirk's solos.
I have to get some albums again for old times sake.

First album I ever bought was Ride The Lightning.
Dunno where it is. ;/

hetfieldfan86 03-01-2006 11:06 AM

Tool on the bill for download as well now. :D

BLS_Infernus 03-01-2006 02:44 PM

Metallica will never have the same sound on any album. Stop fantasying about past records. Everyone in Metallica has said many times that they hope that the sound changes everytime during each album.

I hate it when bands say things like that. It just makes you shudder.

Jev 03-01-2006 03:22 PM

I hope they stick to their guns and make it more metal. Not like Load and Reload.

SimonCore 03-01-2006 03:41 PM

^Load was good but only for a one off album. Re-load however is pretty abysmal. I'd like another Ride the lightning style or even Black album style.

I dunno, To Live is To Die and Orion are pretty kick ***.

I think I choose Orion as the best istrumental.

Also, BLS, I think you mentioned No Leaf Clover in an earlier post...

No, he doesn't. Listen past Slipknot. Listen to his work on the Roadrunner United album. I have to see if I can get a bootleg of one of the shows he did on Satyricon's US tour supporting "Volcano", because if a black metal band wants him to play for them, with songs faster that Slipknot's songs ever could be, then he has to be good.

Besides that fact, playing live in front of what? 50,000? 100,000? More? For the first time with the actual band Metallica. Think about it. You'd be sloppy too, playing with childhood heroes of yours for the first time. Really, I'd love to see you do better, because it's hilarious how you call him sloppy and saying he sucks, despite all signs pointing to it being otherwise.

Orion ftw
I'm not talking about his playing for Metallica I'm talking about him in-general. He's not very good. Wow he can play fast, so can Dave Lombardo who completely destroys him on the drums. Joey is sloppy and I don't have to see him play Enter the Sand man on youtube to understand that. Saw him at Ozzyfest this year and last and he sucks.

speed =\= good

Because you've listened to all of his work beyond Slipknot, right? Mick Thompson is a horrible guitarist too.

Most of the guys in Slipknot are very horrible musicians. Take a look at Al Di Meola or John McLaughlin if you think Mick Thompson is any good. I can see now what it is with you I'm done with the arguing.
