Metallica has produced the best musicians in a long while. Burton was and incredible bassist, kirk is an awsome guitarist, lars plays the drums like i play your mom and james HAD some kick *** vocals.

Bazarov 02-28-2006 03:20 PM

I'm not a big fan of Lars' drumming.

Either am I. I think there are better drummers out there. I think he fits Metallica's style perfectly though.

Bazarov 02-28-2006 03:24 PM

Yes his drumming does fit Metallica. I can't deny that.

Joe 02-28-2006 03:28 PM

Hello everyone! It's been awhile...

Yes it does. Although it's not good, it fits. On 98Rock (a Baltimore radio station) they were making a band of the biggest douches and the lead singer was Scott Stapp and the drummer was Lars Ulrich. I thought it was pretty funny. I'm thinking it should have Jason Newsted as a bassist. Although he's a pretty awesome guy, you don't just quit Metallica like that.

So I heard the best version of Ride the Lightning, so much better than the album. Anyone who has the Unamed Feeling EP knows what I mean. I also heard the 2nd worst thing ever, Kid Rock's Sad But True.

Rick Rubin, eh? Score.

How is everyone?

Didn't Kid Rock just use the song(minus vocals) as the music for one of his songs, or did he actually cover it?

He used the SBT music and made his own lyrics and guitar solos and such. It's really awful. It reminded me of the wannabe Crazy Train. I nearly cried...

Thats horrid. He should be shot for his lack of creativity and talent. Not to mention ruining a great song.

Yea tell me about it. It's a little different covering it, but when you write lyrics and use someone else's riff it's just cheap. I can't stand when people use music from other bands and write their own lyrics.

I agree. A cover is ment to be a very similar version of a song (with a few possible changes). What he did was steal a song. Did he even ask Metallica if it was alright?

I want to hear this song. I think I heard it once, but I dont remember it.
What's so bad about the black album? That was when they were still proper metal!
Well that's a matter of opinion, personally for me the Black Album isn't very good, but each person is different...

You must play my mother with lots of cymbols then?

Some serious double bassing with weak cymbols, yes, that's how he plays you're mom.

:amaze:

I love the Black Album.

Ride The Lightning > Black Album

Joe 02-28-2006 04:07 PM

Ride the Lightning > Master of Puppets >>>>>>> any other Metallica album

GenuineImitation 02-28-2006 04:10 PM

Ride the lightning > And Justice for All > Master of Puppets > Black Album > Kill 'Em All > Load > Saint Anger > Reload
And Justice For All > Ride The Lightning > Master of Puppets > Black Album > Kill 'Em All > Load > Saint Anger > Reload
That's about where I'm at on the subject.

Jev 02-28-2006 04:18 PM

Glad to see everyone loves Ride The Lightning. :D

Joe 02-28-2006 04:21 PM
Ride the lightning > And Justice for All > Master of Puppets > Black Album > Kill 'Em All > Load > Saint Anger > Reload
Let's see, I'm a little bit different. I'm RTL>MOP>AJFA>Black>KEA>Garage>Reload>St. Anger>Load

Does anyone have Blue Oyster Cult's Astronomy? I want to hear the original. I love Metallica's cover of it.

lightningmetal666 02-28-2006 04:29 PM

I'm trying to get my fiancee educated in the ways of Metallica. Apparently she has fallen victim to the thought that the black Album is the best one. WTF? I've let her listening to RTL and she still wasn't entirely convinced. She says she loves the band but doesn't really have a clue who they are. So tonight, I plan to let her listen to all of their studio albums (minus reload because I don't have it) to give her a good intro to an awesome band.

Besides, I've always wanted to just go through every metallica album that I own starting with KEA.

Jev 02-28-2006 04:34 PM

I'm thinking she's liking Black Album the most because it's the easiest one to get into if you know what I mean. Give her time and she should start to love the more heavier and better 'Tallica.

lightningmetal666 02-28-2006 04:38 PM
I'm thinking she's liking Black Album the most because it's the easiest one to get into if you know what I mean. Give her time and she should start to love the more heavier and better 'Tallica.
She definitely loves metal, that was a big reason why I hooked up with her, I just want her to learn that there's better stuff than that.

Who knows? Maybe in a couple of months I can get her to listen to Cannibal Corpse, but that's probably pushing it.:p

Jev 02-28-2006 04:39 PM

Haha, I got my sister to listen to Opeth so I wouldn't rule it out.

lightningmetal666 02-28-2006 04:41 PM
Haha, I got my sister to listen to Opeth so I wouldn't rule it out.
Whoa dude, I seriously got my woman to love Opeth's new album Ghost Reveries. She thinks Ghost of Perdition and The Great Conjuration are the best songs. That so friggin' awesome. \m/\m/

Jev 02-28-2006 04:46 PM

Haha yeah Ghost of Perdition is my sister's favourite Opeth song. I like trying to sing Opeth. I'm getting better at Death Metal growls and stuff. But the clean I can't do :(

I can sound like the harsh vocals like in GOP but only at very low volumes. and after drinking a huge glass of milk.

Jev 02-28-2006 04:56 PM

I can do it pretty loud but it's missing something if you know what I mean. It doesn't sound as scary.

Chu 02-28-2006 04:57 PM
Does anyone have Blue Oyster Cult's Astronomy? I want to hear the original. I love Metallica's cover of it.
It's good, cause of that cover my brother went through a whole Blue Oyster Cult stage, so we downloaded a heap of Blue Oyster Cult songs :D

And tbh, Ride The Lightning > Master of Puppets > No Life 'Til Leather > Power Metal > Kill 'em All > *

I wish I could sing at all :(
My voice breaks like a mofo whenever I go higher then my talking voice.

I can impersonate some emo bands though, like Cursive (Take into account I actually like Cursive, just their singer.. sucks imo).

Kickflip_Burrito 02-28-2006 05:48 PM

Master of Puppets > Kill 'Em All > Ride The Lightning > Black > Garage Inc. > And Justice For All > ReLoad > St Anger > Load

And to Chu ^^ I wish I could sing too pal. Its annoying because I can play and 'sing' at the same time but don't have the voice for it. (I play bass btw)

drummer_mp3 02-28-2006 07:30 PM

AJFA>MOP>BLACK>KEA>RTL>Reload>ST.Anger>Load

Thats just me and my drummer self. If it were drum wise it goes this way.

TojesDolan 02-28-2006 08:08 PM
I can sound like the harsh vocals like in GOP but only at very low volumes. and after drinking a huge glass of milk.
I eat mints before any sort of screaming, but I think I fucked my vocie, since I can't reach high notes, even though I could some time ago... no sound comes out of my mouth... :(

Anyhow, I'd like Ride the lightning even more, if it weren't for "trapped under ice". That's the only nono in my Metallica list. Then again, Master of puppets seems like it has my current metallica faves... leper messiah, damage inc., battery...
