Bone Machine probably, that era seems to be his most badass. I'm a big fan of everything he has done though, last time I had a full listen through of [i]Swordfishtrombones[/i] (which has never been an overall consistent favourite) was nice. I tend to ignore a lot of the later tracks on his albums, and it has some really good ones.

I haven't heard that soundtrack yet.

I'm listening to Rossz Csillag Allat Szuletett by Venetian Snares currently. And soon to be listening to The Good Son by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds as Meatplow's posts have enticed me to pull it out (metaphorically of course, it's ripped to my computer)

For the record my favourite Tom Waits album is Bone Machine and I know nobody asked

Bone Machine is great. I really like the cabaret feel of his first few albums. I love the Black Rider album also, probably his most underrated release.

I haven't heard his last 3 albums tbh.

choosing a favourite tom waits album is difficult but i'd probably go with either bone machine or nighthawk at the diner

i've listened to [i]Rounds[/i], I wasn't really feeling it at time but i'll probably return to it eventually. on a side note I keep hearing his live sets are phenomenally awful, like pushing play on a laptop and smoking a cigarette :/
