Kirk can't pull that MoP solo off because of what he did in the studio. Something about almost ripping the low E off and fretting in on his pickup.
|
It still sounds pretty close though, from what I can hear, live. He plays that "note" with some kind of harmonic live, right?
|
I think he said he pretty much changed that part up or something. It's in Guitar World when he was on the cover. Most of the time when I'm at a 'tallica concert I'm to pumped up and having to good of a time to really care.
|
Few bands are as popular as Metallica, In Flames, Maiden etc...
But still, I understand what you're saying, I just think it's mis-use of the term...
Well, In Flames isnt really that popular. |

Dude, 12 fukkin 3. I went on the St. Anger tour, it was the greatest thing Ive ever seen, except for Black Label Society. |

I saw Metallica with Godsmack on the Madly in Anger With The World Tour. Metallica has such an awesome pyro show. My history teacher says it's to destract from their crappy music. He thinks he's funny.

Yeah, I saw them with Godsmack once. Ranks as my number 2 favorite concert. James, Lars, Sully and Godsmack's other drummer (only know Sully's name) had a drum battle and Kirk and Godsmack's lead guitarist had a solo battle. Great show and those guys know how to do it together. |
You're lucky... I didn't get to see any battles. Though the whole thing with Sully and the drummer on those revolving stadiums was pretty killer.
Where did you see them? |

Where did you see them?
When I was down in San. Fran. Oh yeah man. When Sully goes out to the crowd and gets up that temple and then they have some indian drum battle. That is killer. One of the most original things I've seen. I don't know, there is just something about Metallica's presence though. They don't really try but the presence is just...ahhhhh. It's insane. Anyone who has been to a Metallica concert knows what I'm talking about. |

So am I, Ive got a BLS tattoo on my back, but thats beside the point. Everyone is fukkin die hard. Metallica is really insane too. Its really close. Probably because Black Label Society has Zakk Wylde, and Im a Zakk Wylde fanatic. But, Kirk Hammett can really play too. He ranks 3rd on my all time favorites list. Hes the reason why I started playing guitar. :) |
Well, In Flames isnt really that popular.
Actually they are. I saw their video on MTV, or MTV2, not sure the other day. But they're nowhere near metallica's popularity though. |
In Flames is probably the most popular melodic death metal band. Maybe Arch Enemy.
BLS is pretty much Zakk Wylde driving his guitar between his legs and the other guys standing there playing. |

Yeah, thats what I was referring to. Metallica wise. |

Zakk Wylde can stand there and do that all he wants to.. as long as hes playing. =\ Thats all Im there to see. Zakk Wylde doing what he does best. |
Well, In Flames isnt really that popular.
Compared to Flotsam & Jetsam, they are, and Flotsam & Jetsam is an older band. |

123 LoL Zakk Wylde can do whatever he wants as long as it sounds as good as it does. What's gonna become of all these metalheads when they are like 70?...that's gonna suck |
Ozzy's 58 and he pretty much can't do anything musical-wise anymore. Most metalheads will probably die before 70 too. All that alcohol and drugs can't be too good.
I think Master is easiest to hear the bass on, but maybe that's just me...
Nah man it's easily the black album Iam a bassist and I'd consider myself quite good at being able to pick up the tone. This is how I rate the albums tone wise. Kill Em All 8/10 Ride The Lightining 7/10 Master Of Puppets: 9/10 And Justice For All: 2/10 Black Album: 10/10 Load: 8/10 Reload: 8/10 Garage Inc: 9/10 Saint Anger: 7/10 The Black album you can hear the bass so perfectly for each and every song. I think Jason used a Stuart Spector for most of this album and this is a bass with some growl which you can definetly hear throughout the album. |
I never listen to Black Album so I don't know :p
|
I never listen to Black Album so I don't know :p
What's so bad about the black album? That was when they were still proper metal! |
I'd say it was more inbetween their metal and rock days.
|
^^It's still an amzing album. I mean songs like 'Sad but true' are definetly metal.
|
Sad But True has always been one of my favourite songs of all time. It's just, good :D.
|
