I got that album a while ago from one of the YSI threads. I listened to like the first 5 songs the night I downloaded it like a month ago but haven't listened to any of it since. I should put that on, since I enjoyed what I heard.
That again was me who requested that.
|
So. . . I'm downloading Sticky Fingers right now. I hope it's better than Exile because that album disappointed me.
I like Sticky Fingers better. Mick Taylor pwns Ron Wood. Wood is still great though. And Livewired makes the best requests in the YSI threads :thumb: |
I found out Neil Young is going to the Live 8 in Toronto(Barrie), so I registered for a chance to win tickets.
Neil Young+Deep Purple+Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings+The Tragically Hip couldnt be all that bad. |
So I'm gonna try to get Freak Out! out of my library in a little bit. First time I heard it, I thought it was pretty good, but I want to try it again. What are some other good Zappa albums?

Hot Rats, the Shut Up'n Play Yer Guitar series, and Apostrophe (') are good. We're Only in it for the Money is supposed to be good. |
So is anyone here into King Crimson? I just got to know the band a few days ago, it definetily kicks a-ss, IŽve been downloading some of their songs, but I think IŽll buy an album as soon as possible.
I love king crimson, I only have their debut though. I plan to get more |

Go like 5 pages back in the Alt and Indie YSI thread. Someone uploaded Discipline and Red as well as the debut. |

I was really disappointed with Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar. I mean sure it has alot of fantastic solos but there's more to a song than just a solo. It all begins to sound the same at times. Although it does display some of the greatest guitar I've heard on a album it still seems to disappoint me. :-/ |
Thats the point, how much he can do with just solos.

I like it a lot. I haven't listened to it all the way through yet though. |

I can't stand any early Zappa work. Some of the other stuff is good though. :) |
Badmoon I downloaded Convict Pool and I listened to it all but it didnt really interest me. Alone Again Or was the best song though. Still not as good as Love's version though.
|
I finally downloaded it too. Haven't listened to it yet though.

EDIT: The official site is microscopic
Pink Floyd is at the one in Hyde Park. |

I wish I could go to that. I didn't bother to text in for the Philadelphia one, Springsteen is like the only artist there I'd want to see. There were probably a few other good ones, but he's the only one from the list that I can remember. Philly's like 3 hours from me anyway. |

Where did you hear about Neil being there? |

Yes they are. I like changing my avatar every week or so. The thread is really dead tonight. Someone come up with something to talk about.

Um....anyone like The Stooges? They're proto-punk, which is usually considered classic rock. |
I have their debut, its good stuff, but there are a bunch of proto-punk bands that are better.

News paper. He's closing the Barrie show. |
Has anyone else noticed a huge decline in our (the Classic Rock community) involment in R&M? Even the Beatles and Pink Floyd threads are struggling. Not that we are but lately I feel as though we're getting more and more alienated away from R&M by the day.
|
We've almost talked about everything in here :)
|
CCR are kind of mediocre in my opinion. Although their cover of Heard It Through The Grapevine is cool in a way.
Well yeah their material lacks complexity and God knows why they are even a dual guitar band, but they have a good sound thats easy to listen to and most of the time thats all you need. |

This is the only thread in R & M I go into. |
I just wish we wern't so restricted to one thread.

If you don't think there are enough rock threads (if that's what you even mean), why don't you make some? |
