new Kanye is one of my favorite releases of 08. i love autotune though.

ive been listening to eminem a lot lately. i didnt realize how awesome The Eminem Show was. Superman is such a killer track.

StreetlightRock 12-08-2008 05:34 AM

Ugh, autotune (as an obvious effect) is becoming so overused now just to give songs some electro edge, it's sorta really annoying.

badtaste 12-08-2008 06:01 AM

'tis the Cher effect.

Listened to RZA's 'Bobby Digital in Stereo' recently. Pretty cool. I'm a sucker for his casual rap style.

yeah, i get why people hate it but i really dig it 99% of the time.

kingsoby1 12-08-2008 08:40 AM

rza needs to stop the bobby digital garb and produce gza albums. too bad they're all like in their 40's now.

cher is so annoying. i went to a gay bar the other day with some friends that wanted to go to a bar of their choosing for once... and it was basically the worst musical experience of my life.

Rams 12-08-2008 11:36 PM
Here Come the Lords is a classic.

downloading that album now jake(that is your name right?)

my memory is bad <_<
It's Jake.

I've been listening to the Reavers lately. They were really good.

hiphopdx gave the new common a 2.5 lolololol

Iai 12-10-2008 03:44 AM

It's getting slaughtered on RYM, but the resident hip-hop expert gave it a really tentative 3.5 and was like, 'I'm really not looking forward to defending this rating to everyone'.

Meatplow 12-10-2008 06:12 AM

can't stop listening to power in numbers by jurassic 5

Iai 12-10-2008 06:22 AM

Actually having just heard the new Common a 2.5 is what I'd give it too.

Apocalyptic Raids 12-10-2008 07:07 AM

diction? totally expected that dude to give it a .5

Iai 12-10-2008 08:18 AM

Yeah I know. He gave Finding Forever a 0.5, iirc.

kingsoby1 12-10-2008 08:37 AM

a lot of people are applying the 808s reasoning to UMC... which is bs in my opinion. it's a pop album... but it's a poor pop album. i really can't see it being "average"... pharell's beats are terrible, common doesn't really rap besides his dance-commands, the content is severely lacking, i mean, all around it's basically awful. 808s is a great example of a rapper/producer making an awesome pop album; this just fails miserably.

i still have to decide between a 1.5 and 2. i'll give it another spin (ugh).

niobium 12-10-2008 11:08 AM

"conscious" hip hop isn't usually too good. that or anything militant

ATM 12-10-2008 01:51 PM

Looks like I may be interviewing Chino XL tomorrow :D

Anything you guys want to know?

Tyler 12-10-2008 01:58 PM

Chino is still around? That's news to me.

New Common is a 1.5 at best for me.

ATM 12-10-2008 02:02 PM

Yeah he is putting out an album this year on Machete Music.

New Common is pretty lame.

Amit 12-10-2008 02:09 PM

universal mind control is really fun to dance to with drunk hot girls

which is erally surprising since we're talkign about common here

(*The Noonward Race*) 12-10-2008 04:57 PM

Interstate 12-10-2008 05:01 PM

Wyko 12-11-2008 09:16 AM

UMC is really, really awful, and by far the worst album he's dropped in his career.

ATM 12-11-2008 09:21 AM

Rams, this album is great.
