- Ion Dissonance, Premonitions of War, and even Embrace Today I will admit to enjoying quite thorougly. They had to play short sets though, which kind of sucked, but it was still fun. ID were insane.
That show is supposed to be hitting up somewhere by me... I have it in much consideration to attend.

insertwordXcore 11-19-2004 03:14 PM
it was amazing. i didn't have any of champion's cds then... so i didn't enjoy them as much as i would have. i think i had heard a few songs though.

FINALLY! This Sunday @ CBGBs A Life Once Lost, Nora, and a few other bands. I've only heard Nora. What does ALOL sound like?
a life once lost is pretty good. i dont know really who they sound like but try listening to "just before his crucifixion".

cbmartinez 11-19-2004 03:26 PM

They don't sound at all like that anymore. Cb, they sound a lot like Meshuggah now, if you've ever heard them. Really heavy, technical metal, but not like Psyopus/ID tech metal. You have to hear them. Get "Surreal Atrocities".

BuddyBigsby 11-19-2004 07:18 PM

Shane, you going to be at NIV tonight or no dice?

$1?? I wish I could go to this.

cbmartinez 11-19-2004 10:22 PM

Oh. I've never listened to them.

A-Life-Less-Plagued 11-19-2004 10:28 PM

I've heard one song, 'Cavil'. It was pretty cool.
$1?? I wish I could go to this.
I was surprised by the $1 dollar also might as well be free.

victimofreality 11-20-2004 01:08 AM

Time for a stupid question.... I'm sorry but what exactly is a breakdown?

shane italian 11-20-2004 01:19 AM
Time for a stupid question.... I'm sorry but what exactly is a breakdown?
Repetative riff in the song. Kind of like a bridge.

Gotkookie 11-20-2004 01:20 AM

Its often slowed down, and has heavy cymbals. Basically its good for windmills, spin kicks, etc... Most breakdowns have chugging riffs, d or c power chord (dropped).

PlasticGangster 11-20-2004 02:52 AM

I downloaded the new Across Five Aprils cd and it's pretty good they just don't scream as much, Same cool guitar rhythms.

A-Life-Less-Plagued 11-20-2004 07:57 AM

Not really.

cbmartinez 11-20-2004 11:50 AM

That's how I thought of them. A part in the song where the instruments often stop and a chugging, palm-muted guitar riff comes in. It's kind of hard to explain. Poison The Well have a breakdown in almost everyone of their songs.

NewKindofArmy03 11-20-2004 12:16 PM

Not all breakdowns have chugga chugga riffs, an example is Comeback Kid.

NewKindofArmy03 11-20-2004 12:43 PM

I'm listening to Make Move now, this song is really good.

40 oz 2 freedom 11-20-2004 12:48 PM

I've been looking for Make Move forever!

NewKindofArmy03 11-20-2004 12:49 PM

Do you have any songs? If not, http://www.hxcmp3.com/bands/448/

BuddyBigsby 11-20-2004 01:27 PM

Agh, ok

Hardcore breakdowns = Repetitive riff you can dance to

Metalcore/Metal breakdowns = Chugga chugga you can dance to

Drums in both = about the same

Let's Chop Cats! 11-20-2004 01:39 PM

Throwdown - Slip Away

That's a metalcore type breakdown

Ensign - Tourniquet

That's more of a hardcore breakdown

A-Life-Less-Plagued 11-20-2004 09:01 PM

I just got Converge's new album on vinyl...then I proceeded to download the album...sometimes I wonder why I buy vinyl.

Anyways, so far, it's really good, 'Last Light' is really really good.

I like this album a lot better than Jane Doe. There's more of a hardcore influence.

CONNER_NWHC 11-20-2004 09:07 PM

How much did it cost?

 They sound great! It's like a perfect mix of chuggy metally stuff and hardcore. The vocalist has a really weird voice.

A-Life-Less-Plagued 11-20-2004 09:08 PM
How much did it cost?
