Chippy569 02-05-2008 12:25 PM

hey bill, what are the "referrals" on the user profiles?

billdrum 02-05-2008 12:26 PM

I believe that's for if you've referred someone to the site who became a registered user. I'm not sure how it works really.

Chippy569 02-05-2008 12:28 PM

oh! cool. i've got 4.

when you register there's usually a little box for "did someone refer you to this site?"
and then you put in their name
and voila! referral.

I think "Who's frikin idea was it to run the power grid at 60Hz in north america?" would be a more apt question

:p

Either way, my job would be easier if it were all the same. 50/60 I don't care - just pick one.

*They're

As in "they are banning smoking"

billdrum 02-05-2008 01:27 PM

They banned it here in Illinois (smoking, not fags) and I gotta say, its nice coming home from a gig not smelling like an ashtray.

Drum Phil 02-05-2008 01:30 PM

I know that chipple. I didnt draw it.

I want to take my monster lense out for a walk but i cant be arsed with photo labs.

Retarded Chipple 02-05-2008 01:32 PM

Yeah, I'm loving the smoking ban.

Dunno why cos I never go in pubs anyway!

Drum Phil 02-05-2008 01:35 PM

To be honest i hate it.

I dont go in clubs anymore because they just smell or stale beer, body odour and old piss.

Seafroggys 02-05-2008 01:41 PM

Oregon now has it as of the new year.

Should be nice playing gigs!

Retarded Chipple 02-05-2008 01:45 PM
To be honest i hate it.

Everyone keeps saying that but I swear to god its only because you're going in the wrong kind of clubs!

Drum Phil 02-05-2008 01:47 PM

Nope. All the clubs smell like that.

Either you get the dance clubs that smell like lambrini and poundshop aftershave and piss, or the rock clubs that smell like stale beer, BO and piss.

The Mites 02-05-2008 01:49 PM

I don't like the smoking ban. I don't smoke but it has completely killed the idea of an intimate smokey jazz club.

Drum Phil 02-05-2008 01:52 PM

Exactly.

Janeway 02-05-2008 01:53 PM

Unless they're on a reservation...

Seafroggys 02-05-2008 01:53 PM

People still listen to jazz?

Drum Phil 02-05-2008 01:55 PM

Maybe not jazz, but the smokey club atmosphere was awesome.

Several clubs have actually shut down since the ban here.

Janeway 02-05-2008 02:00 PM

Solely on the basis of a smoking ban?

There was a big stink about bars shutting down when they banned it here. They seemed to ignore the fact that it's $2.50 for a bottle of shitty beer and $3 a shot of watered down liquor and nobody is going to bay those prices when you can buy a liter of JD for $25.

Seafroggys 02-05-2008 02:03 PM

Up in Washington the ban's been in place for awhile, and the bar industry has hardly suffered.

Merely myths purpetrated by the tobacco industry.

Drum Phil 02-05-2008 02:05 PM

Right. Because my mate who ran one of them is right in the loop with the tabacco companies.

One of the cities longest running alternative night had record drops in attendance in the weeks after the ban was put in place. Nor did it ever recover.

Janeway 02-05-2008 02:17 PM

Well, perhaps it made people realize how silly it is to shell out asinine amounts of money to get smashed and listen to music nobody really likes while people have epileptic fits all around you.

Chippy569 02-05-2008 02:20 PM

smoking bans really only affect bars when there are other unbanned bars nearby. last year, hennepin county ran a smoking ban. the bars in the center of the county were pretty well fine. the bars around the outskirts of the county line suffered, because people could just go over to the next county and smoke while they drink.

now that all of minneapolis is under the smoking ban, bar businesses are doing equally fine.

want a smoky atmosphere? buy a ****ing hazer.
yeah he's fcking awesome...but singer looks retarded lol.
new guy is better than jon theodore, imho

Win A Rabbit 02-05-2008 02:35 PM

There was a smoking ban in bars here, and bar owners just switched it over to "casinos" because they had some vlt machines in the bar.

Obelisk 02-05-2008 02:40 PM

It's been a couple years here, even as a smoker, I quite enjoy the policy. Now I only feel like I smoked half a pack the next morning, not 5.

My local went out of business shortly after the ban, though. Teh Sux.

Janeway 02-05-2008 02:45 PM

Wtwtfwtfwtfwtf?!

I just had this wicked pain in my right ear. It was right in the really thick part of the cartilage in the back that connects to the skull. It was fucking horrible.
