My cat does that when he's in the car.
Like, when we had to drive with him from MO to here, 2 day trip and all, my mom would let him loose in the car because he was too much of a wuss to move around and get under her feet.
But when we'd stop to eat, we'd park the car he was in [2 cars] right next to the window and sit next to it so we could look...and he'd pop up in the passenger's seat, look around, meow, duck down, move to the driver's seat, repeat...it was absolutely hilarious.
Because you could see him meowing, but you couldn't hear it.

If you are ever playing in a big band and playing quarters on the bass drum along with the bass player, for the love of god, play them softly! I've heard so many drummers that are new to jazz just hammer out those quarter notes and it's one of my "pet peeves".
It's meant to compliment the bass player, not overpower everything.
