Right now "Across the Universe". (not all time though)
ATU is my default favorite beatles song. The first time I heard it I couldn't speak or think right for hours
I was on the bus when I first heard it, (my bus ride was 30 min. or so through the woods), and it was early fall, during a rainstorm. I had just found Let It Be the night before. I could barely see out the window to stare out of it (which is all there is to do on such a busride), and when I heard the first few measures I was in full-body paralysis
My English teacher wasn't in for D-Block, and he didn't leave us any work, so I got my CD player (this was before they were banned) and sat next to the big windowsill and watched a torrential downpour over the courtyard/athletic fields/mountains/river. By the time he class was over I was soaked, and I sat that way in Spanish class. I was still quite spacy

Has anyone seen "The Rutles"? It's done by Eric Idle of Monty Python, and it's a spoof of the Beatles. It's really, really brilliant. Dirk, Stig, Nasty, and Barry: The Pre-Fab Four.

El_Goodo 07-31-2005 08:58 PM

Well I made a thread but no one seemed to care. But has anyone heard Paul McCartney's new single "fine line" it's really starting to grown on me. The only think that bothers me is that he sings everything like "everyting" (without the h) it's a little weird. But it's actually pretty catchy.

As for my favourite Beatles song right now, I'm also gonna have to say Across The Universe. That's a really great song, that Im just starting to listen to more. Im really liking the music off Let It Be it's alot more raw and emotional, and I like the little talking in between the songs.

I decided I needed to learn a new song that I can play on acoustics, so I learned Blackbird. Once you get the fingerpicking pattern down, it's very easy, and really fun to play.

Woodstock 07-31-2005 09:29 PM

Yes, that's almost as common a song to play on guitar as Stairway. It is really easy once you get it down. :)

Flaminghotchino 07-31-2005 09:32 PM

Across the Universe was one of my favorite beatles songs for a while.

Along with, Within You, Without You, Taxman, and Blue Jay Way

That was the first song I ever learned how to play. I love it.

magicbus 07-31-2005 10:00 PM

And I thought I was special or something :upset:

But seriously, it's real good for a little song to whip out around the campfire.

rockinbass17 07-31-2005 10:27 PM

It's so unlike everything else on the album- Helter Skelter and USSR,etc. Nice little mellow number. Sometimes a simple acoustic guitar part sounds better than all the other complex studio stuff one can do.

That is so true, I mean look at Bob Dylan's stuff before he went electic, or John Lennon's solo career. People get so caught up with trying to make the most complex hard to play song that by the end they are playing somthing that they only wrote to be hard, rather then writing somthing simple but from the heart.

Has anyone seen the movie "I am Sam" with sean penn? It has a ton of Beatle references and the whole soundtrack to the movie is all beatles songs, unfortuantly there all by different artists. Check out that movie to see the beatle references and facts. I picked up a few beatle facts from that movie.

Cool, yeah I always wonder about Bealtes covers, I mean its pretty hard to top the Beatles. Though I have a Hendrix cd where he does a great cover of "Tomorrow Never Knows"

I hate how Micheal Jackson owns the rights to the songs. I hate Jackson with a passion that little........Little boy molesterer!

I wish i could get real music tones for my cell phone instead of STUPID Poly's.

magicbus 07-31-2005 11:35 PM

Why does Michael Jackson own their songs?

MBS 07-31-2005 11:58 PM
Why does Michael Jackson own their songs?
He bought the rights to most of the songs from Paul McCartney.

Ironically, Paul was the one who told him to buy rights to songs because it's a good investment.

DeusExMachina 08-01-2005 12:16 AM

Paul owns the latter stuff, though. Like, everything after Sgt. Pepper.
