Punks discussing sewing...who woulda thunkit?
anyone ever notice that floss > thread for sewing?
It doesn't work well on old, thinning materials. It just rips bigger holes in it.

But yeah, for most things it's great.

Me. Almost all the punks I know know how to sew.

Punks talking about knitting would be pretty kickass.

I crochet, its pretty relaxing on long busrides, but I always listen to strong manly music so I don't feel the slightest bit femenine.

Sewing and punk go hand in hand since it is a main part of DIY. I couldn't make a pair of paints, but I could fix a hole, temporarily and sew a patch. But I'm still getting better at it. Need more practice.

I'm learning with machines now, gonna make some pants soon, but easy stuff like with no pockets, or zippers, jsut gotta find some cheap fabric, broke as always :-(

plus when you tell a girl you can sew they're all over you. Best part of listening to punk is sewing.

AIRIC 10-11-2005 04:31 PM

I can sew and I don't even DIY.

Liebensaft 10-11-2005 04:34 PM

I can sew as well, but something about discussing it amongst other males who I can't picture sewing at all makes me laugh.

That, is false.

I don't see why DIY bondage rings wouldn't work, or why they'd be difficult at all.

skinnedmonkey 10-11-2005 08:10 PM

What about DIY bondage straps like for belt loops?

Probably a bit more difficult, I've seen some people with them, and they just looked stupid.

Does anyone have any tips on turning pants skin tight, I tried but I think I ruined them.

Scabies 10-12-2005 12:31 PM

turn them inside out, sew along the inside seam depending on how tight you want em.

thats pretty much the only way i use. Iv tried shrinking them.. but its never the right size.

skankthenspank 10-12-2005 03:08 PM

Making pants skin tight is hard, I tried to do it myself and they came out wicked ****ty but my freind sews like the wind so he did some for me, then they got too small so i bought a few pairs over time. Check bargain racks for jeans like that at punk rock clothes stores.

Liebensaft 10-12-2005 03:20 PM

I thought the whole point of DIY was so you could make your own clothing.

He meant Hot Topic, silly. That's the number one punX store and it's totally not corporate, and they are totally not fashiionable.

All our hot topic has are huge goth pants, thats the opposite way, I want smaller not bigger, and their shirts are like $20, why buy those when I can steal their ideas and make mega cheap ones?

Well, now we can ridicule skinnedmonkey for shopping at Hot Topic.
turn them inside out, sew along the inside seam depending on how tight you want em.
noooooo, outside seam, cos the inside seam will make your crotch area too low and wont be able to walk, and itll **** up the bottom. outside seam is the way to go.

also, you wouldnt wanna do it with regular jeans, cos you wont be able to get in to them. get some stretchy denim.

btw, id rather just work a few hours than make jeans, its really not worth the time and effort.
