If you see naughty images, tell me the name of the thread and do not post a link. Not sure if links are the problem right now, but don't post them. I won't click them.

Thanks.

Serious question to the mods, when can we follow suit and get a weekly/monthly stickied spam thread if at all? Rules can be as you see fit obviously but i think it would be a great idea (suggested it a long time ago)

overturned 07-07-2007 03:42 AM

To be honest, no.
We have the classifieds, use that.

"No one looks in the classifieds"
They will when it starts getting big use.
You also have the lod in which to advertise and attempt sale.

sh!t thread to be honest. should just be closed

3074326 07-16-2007 09:25 PM

We have a forum for this.. but I do have a proposal that I'd like to get some opinions on. Might as well post it in here.

Rather than have this thread, I'd like to see if mx would be interested in getting rid of the Classifieds section and making guitar classifieds, bass classifieds, etc as subforums.

Good idea, or no?

iplayanesp 07-16-2007 09:27 PM

I made this with permission.

http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=527569&page=245

I'd rather have a thread in the guitar forum.

Excellent idea.

No one reads the Classified forum anyways.

3074326 07-16-2007 09:30 PM

Okay, I figured there was permission involved (that's why I didn't close immediately). With a forum it would be much more organized.

I'm going to be honest, Official threads are the most unorganized things ever. I don't think a buying/selling gear official thread will work. We can give it a shot.

EDIT: It would be used if it wasn't infested with spam and hidden under every other forum.

Carry on, I should've posted this idea in the suggestions/problems sticky.

That could be a good idea, so long as people end up going there.

The only reason I'd prefer a thread over a section right now is that I never really leave the Guitar forum when I'm here, but if it was a subforum of this section, I'd probably go there, and it'd be easier to keep up with.

iplayanesp 07-16-2007 09:31 PM

If you put the subforum in thye guitar section then YES.

put a gear sub forum in to.

so does this mean a new subforum is in the making???

3074326 07-16-2007 09:34 PM

I'll push for a gear reviews subforum, if that's what you mean.

well i meant more of a New guitar day, new amp day, Should i buy this Amp thing.

3074326 07-16-2007 09:37 PM

Stuff like that is why we have the Guitar forum. :)

I'd be fine with the Beginners' Questions forum deleted/posts merged into the regular forum because questions are the whole point of a forum. Reviews and classifieds have a clear distinction and probably deserve to be separated.

iplayanesp 07-16-2007 09:38 PM

thats cool.

yar, that sounds good, haha.

the reason i think the current classifieds forum doesn't work too well, is its too diverse, there are three subforums for the US, and then seperate ones for each major country. i think it would be best if there was just one large one, or maybe a US and a Europe one

3074326 07-16-2007 10:34 PM

Agreed, way too much to go through. Items are more than likely going to need shipped anyways, so country should be the only concern. That can be labeled in the title of the thread, at least.

And to answer iplayanesp, no, a subforum is not currently in the making. But we've been thinking of ways to make the site more marketable and efficient. I think this fits both descriptions pretty well.

mnemonic 07-16-2007 10:51 PM

can we have the classifieds thread sticked?

linkage
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=530886

i doubt it will stay on the first page long, cause its not going to be as fast-moving as the lod

3074326 07-17-2007 12:46 AM

I'm fine with sticking it as long as it doesn't get filled with spam.

It'll be closed if it turns into Lod v2.

mnemonic 07-17-2007 12:54 AM

awesome thanks :D

I think the classifieds thread should have at least a few rules, with them being :

-Picture is a must (if not possible the a stock photo will do, for clarification purposes)
-References are a must (be it a fellow forum member, ebay, or elsewhere)
-Price you're looking to get for the item OR if trading post what you are looking for
-If an item is sold the seller is to delete his post in the thread

Anyone with me on any of those?

sounds great, but what if we are not really looking for anything in particular in a trade?

Used666 07-17-2007 02:24 AM

Hey man if you're that open then thats fine too, but im just saying you can probably expect a lot of tire kickers/low ballers.

mnemonic 07-17-2007 02:24 AM

sounds good to me.

add contact info too. or enable PM's, thats fine too

My understanding is that they disabled PM's due to server space it took up or something?

mnemonic 07-17-2007 02:27 AM

i dunno, they dont really go anywhere. its just like a regular post, only one person sees it instead of everyone.

3074326 07-17-2007 03:55 AM

It puts unnecessary strain on the servers.

That could be wrong. I think I remember it being said a long time ago. Regardless, PMs aren't going to be enabled. :p

JoshIsNumber3 07-17-2007 10:58 AM

I don't understand, if some people want a layout and a thread style like say..HC, why don't they just go there?

I disagree personally, as I said before, people would look at the classifieds forum if sellers used their loaf and used it.

See what Josh said to further my point.

I'm personally against the thread stickied as well but we'll see how it goes.
Woe betide anyone who spams it.

Giga 07-17-2007 12:33 PM

I'm kinda against the idea because it'll probably be the same 3 people selling stuff over and over, no offense to them and secondly, most of mx = jobless teenagers with no money

Why not sell your expensive stuff on a forum with people with jobs, such as HC

mnemonic 07-17-2007 01:45 PM

well then, most of mx have some pretty expensive guitars and amplifiers for jobless teens

Giga 07-17-2007 02:18 PM

Most of mx =/= 4-6 people.

mnemonic 07-17-2007 02:23 PM

czech gear thread then

Used666 07-17-2007 02:34 PM

Not to offend anyone or anything but it seems like you're saying expensive stuff has no place being sold here? When in fact a lot of people have fairly pricey gear on here. So is it an "i want but cant have thing" or what?
