I like the effects Ben. I think that's a good way forward.

And the tone is getting ever better. How's the looper coming along?

That was with the looper. ;)

So that should tell you how it's coming along.

Obviously quite good then.

Your recording skillz are getting a lot better too.

It's a bit quiet on my speakers though.

BassVirtuoso 10-16-2006 03:48 PM

Quick, the V in a ii-V-I progression is a dominant/7 chord right? And the ii is a min 7 while the I is a maj7? I know they could be a lot of things but these work right?

Yeah, it is a bit quiet overall. My last looped song was too loud, so I'm still experimenting to find the right volume levels.

There really aren't any recording skills involved in that one, actually. I hit 'record' and played. :) All of the effects, tones, and sound manipulation were done in real time.

But, thank you. :)

you are good, but remembers in a ii V I, you can always substitute the V for its tritone chord to give it a more chromatic sound that still resolves.
ie
Dmin7 Db7 Cmaj7

Hey casual.

My Cap'n Jazz album was mailed 11 days ago (St. Louis to Little Rock area) and it still hasn't arrived. I'd say it's just about time to start getting worried.

Give it a bit more time. It's worth the wait. Cap'n Jazz rules.

If you like them, you'd like Owls and American Football.

PietroCrespi 10-16-2006 04:34 PM

Yeah, I guess it may just be a post office mixup.

Anyways, isn't the last CBGB's show this Sunday? Patti Smith I think...

it already happened, i believe.

PietroCrespi 10-16-2006 04:38 PM

Deborah Harry played there Saturday. Maybe yesterday was the last show.

PietroCrespi 10-16-2006 04:40 PM

Yeah, I just checked, it was yesterday.

bottlerocket 10-16-2006 04:41 PM

So my new college goals: I made a bet with my chemistry professor. Here are the rules:

-I double major in chemistry and physics
-I graduate with a 3.98 GPA
-I get into Harvard Graduate School

If I do, he'll give me $500. If I fulfill 2 of the 3 stipulations, I get $400. If I fulfill 1, I get $300.

Do you have any idea how difficult that will be?

Fun fact: Holy Cross has the third largest workload in the nation, behind West Point and Annapolis, respectively.

The Brad 10-16-2006 04:51 PM

I don't think the money is worth the stress, but if it's coming from a stranger go for it.
Fun fact: Holy Cross has the third largest workload in the nation, behind West Point and Annapolis, respectively.
Fun fact: Me thinks you are crazy.

I have no motivation whatsoever.

The Brad 10-16-2006 04:56 PM

But you're in high school, aren't you?

PietroCrespi 10-16-2006 04:57 PM

9th grade.

Akira 10-16-2006 04:59 PM

So Gav, still holding onto your Ivy League dreams? That's good to hear.

The Brad 10-16-2006 05:02 PM

High school is where educational dreams are shattered, college is where they are reborn. But it can also be the place where they go to die, if your parents are forcing you into a field of study you're not interested in.

PietroCrespi 10-16-2006 05:14 PM

Starting this year, they got this thing where every 9th grader has to take this class that focuses on "social skills" and career planning. It's supposed to get us ready for high school.

The Brad 10-16-2006 05:17 PM

Yeah, we had that **** too.
It was such a waste of the teacher's and student's time, the homework was a joke, it was a masturbatory education.

Spaceman Spiff 10-16-2006 05:21 PM

Ugh, I need to do some dumb homework tonight.

I haven't been at school since Wednesday. :p

PietroCrespi 10-16-2006 05:22 PM

I like it because I've got a bunch of friends in there and our teacher is cool. I'm preparing to be a carpenter in that class. I want to do that if I can't get a job in a recording studio, but studying an entertainment-related career is just asking for trouble.

Session musician?

PietroCrespi 10-16-2006 05:38 PM

I was thinking sound engineer or producer. I hadn't even thought about session musician... hm.. I don't know, I'm nothing special on bass. And my parents want me to have a job that is steady and they say musician isn't.

Yes, it is. They must be thinking about like being in a band.

Session musician is a lot different than just being in one band.

I read a thing with him about not picking at your blemishes. That is what he did, so now he has scars all over his chin. It is hard to grow hair there for him, apparently.

irishslappop 10-16-2006 06:58 PM

hair?
