If you don't get it, I think Nitro still sells it in their online store. See? What's the curent bid? It's only $12 from Nitro.
I agree on Halloween, and I'll add Last Caress (that's a really good cover) but I just don't like Demonomania. Haven't heard the Misfits one yet. My friend Jorgan says it was a bad song to start with.
I must admit, they do a great cover of Last Caress. And that's my favorite Misfits song. "I Got Something to Say! I Killed a baby Today.." |
The Nephilim are the children of male angels and female humans. By having relations with humans, those angels fell and the Nephilim are known as the children of fallen angels.
yup, we got that covered quite thoroughly when i posted this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nephilim
Pretty sure he wasn't referring to you, chairman.
yeah, i was definitely referring to the other guy who said the dumb stuff. |
I keep seeing people on ebay like "Oh this is a set of 2 red vinyls in a gatefold that makes up AFI's Sing the Sorrow. It was limited to 10,000 and they were all sold out immediately" It's like, gimme a break. Yeah, they were limited, but Adeline still has a huge stock that they sell for $12 a set.
|
Almost anyone who sells anything on Ebay, will say it's "rare", because there is some idiot out there, who thinks it actually is rare.
|
and then there are us smart people who look everything up on afiseries.com to see what the pressing limit was and what label released it then check out the label's site to see how much it costs from them

You really like AFI don't you. |
Its your baby today.
Oh.. yes it is. Sorry, I got it confused. I always the the first verse was "A", and the second was "Your". My mistake. |
You really like AFI don't you.
well, for any band, it's a good idea to check around before you buy something expensive as "rare." i've got almost every rancid 7" and most of them cost me less than $3 (ruby soho cost me like $6 or $7). |

while I KNOW I could never get any of the old AFI 7"s for that little. Dork is about $2000 on ebay (there were only about 220 including test pressings and all). The GNG 7" and TLSP2 7" aren't too rare, though I don't think you can get them from the label as Dreamworks went under. |
One thing about afi that I love (btw I'm a deathrocker, I HATE mainstream music and trendy stuff) HOWEVER afi is different then all the other bands I've seen on mtv. They have this thing about them, if you look up all their rare songs. Such as ones you find on vinyl versions only or their Girls Not Grey uk single, those songs are by far the best stuff they come out with. And even their EPs always have something special and great about them whether it be a cover song of the cure and the 'fits or they just flat out make a kickass song like Now The World. Even how mainstream and trendy STS seemed the last song This Time Imperfect was BRILLIANT and poetic with emotional tear jerking moods. And as annoying as Davey's voice is getting the way he makes that Michael Jackson "OOHH" he makes up for it with great poetical songs with what seems to be philosophical meanings to it. Which in my opinion is far greater then any good charlotte or warped tour band out there.

that makes total sense and shows how they look at their fans because their fans call themselves fall children making a reference back to the meaning of nephilim..... interesting |
I guess the Ramones are Hella sell outs for being on Warner Bros. records.
yeah **** those pricks with their trendy jeans and wannabe pop punk cliche bull**** they think is music. they thought punk was about partying, ****ing sell out pricks. I'd rather listen to Rudimentary Peni, Flux of Pink Indians, Dirt, or Feederz over them anyday. |
I used to like Afi when they came out with Art Of Drowning. Now they suck.

and now all you listen to is... bad merchandise? |
AFI are awsome. Imlistening to "the prayer position" right now.
|
awesome song
|
totalimmortal is one of my favorite songs by them.
|
Days Of The Phoenix is one of my Favorites. Girls Not Grey, I Want A Mohawk, He Who Laughs Last.
|
If I hadn't seen the DOTP music video, I would never have bought an AFI cd. My brother was showing me the TLSP2 video to explain why a kid named Dale wore vinyl pants and tried to jump and kick at a show when he went onstage (with 2 "borrowed" clueless instrumentalists because his bandmates quit on him) and after the video ended, DOTP's video came on. That song is what jumped them from "pretty good" to "awesome" in my mind, so TAOD was my first bought AFI cd (I had a burnt STS)
|
Death of Seasons was the song that changed my opinion of them. But either The Prayer Position or Days Of The Phoenix was the first song I could call my favorite of theirs.
|
i wonder when they will be touring uk
|
i wonder when they will be touring uk
They are recording a new album. Adam's drum tracking is done. Jade is tracking guitars. Next, Hunter will track bass. Then, Davey will sing. Then, it will be mixed. Then a single will be released. Then, the album will be released. Then, they will go on tour in the US. Then they will tour the UK and the rest of Europe/the world. |
Man I'd love to see them live...

123. I'd love to've seen them after the release of Black Sails. |
I missed them at Warped '03 and I will hate myself forever for it. Chances are slim that they'll come near me when they tour.

My brother saw them. He said it was the best show he's ever saw at Warped Tour. :upset: |

definitely. that would've been so awesome. I doubt any of will ever get to go to one of their shows in the future where they do the "old chant" instead of the "new chant" |

Yeah. It makes me sad. :upset: |
Alright guys.
I don't ususally listen to anything that could be even closely categorized with AFI, but I'm starting to really get sucked into their music. My first encounter with them was on STS, but I've been listening to bunches of songs from some of their other albums (Totalimmortal, The Boy Who Destroyed the World, DoTP, Halloween (a cover, right?), Now the World, The Despair Factor-- and I just heard the Prayer Position, which was excellent). Which album should I get. I mean, from what I've been reading, most people say to go to Black Sails or Art of Drowning next, but I'm not sure. (All Hallows looks concise but excellent, as well, being that I've heard three of four, hehe.)\ So, yeah, what next? Your opinion will be, er, appreciated. :thumb: |
I only like 'The Lost Souls'. Thats a cool song.
|
123. I'd love to've seen them after the release of Black Sails.
I sometimes dream about being at a show they played after the release of SYMAOYE. Specifically the one the pictures from the A Fire Inside EP were taken at. No stage. Perfect.
So, yeah, what next? Your opinion will be, er, appreciated. :thumb:
I would say work backwards. Art Of Drowning > All Hallows EP > Black Sails and so on. |
AFI, I like 'em...one of my top 5 bands probably...Davey writes some amazing lyrics and as someone who writes poetry I respect that.
|
if you live in berkely, maybe you can see them playing at a cafe. davey did a show with the nerve agents in a going away party for some dude in a cafe. or even see them walking around rasputin.
|
I only like 'The Lost Souls'. Thats a cool song.
That was my first favorite AFI song. |

Oh wait, there was one...it was bad though....very tiny benefit show That's what I did. Actually, I got TAOD before STS even though STS had already been released :-P |

Davey lives in Hollywood now so I doubt you will randomly see him in Rasputin.
