The forum has descended into idiocy, you are correct. To the point there are hardly any regulars left, be it veterans or newer people. MX has enough moderators who don't participate enough. In a forum like S&L, it would be nice to have a respected moderator who critiques songs and offers helpful and informative advice. Unfortunately we don't have that anymore (I'm not sure if we ever did), and the users who used to fill that position have come and gone. Having moderators who lurk, close bad threads and ban stupid users is all well and good, but I'd like to see someone bring a little something extra to the table.

As for the selection of moderators, users do have a say. DBJ respects the opinions of veteran users, and people who know what they are talking about. Granted it isn't the only source of nominations for mods or for opinions on the matter, but users' opinions are valued by DBJ, and I'm sure by MX as well, to some minor degree.

Creating guidelines and spamming at the same time is useless. Previous to the new flood of S&L "regulars" we had a fine program set up. Members like Thevermiciousknid, Benbaker06, Gaslight: All of those guys were great critics and also didn't feel the need to spam up and be like lolz, kitten - aperfectsonnet lolz, fur - morrissey, lolz, dog - mshort. You guys acted like idiots for numerous months so I'm going to treat you like idiots. Also, sure users have some input but in most cases their opinions only strength DBJ's thoughs. See NPC's modding and Burt's to an extent. They both weren't the best users but are two of the better mod and most users were against them being modded. Were they demodded? No.

Anyway, I don't feel like arguing.

If you're spamming up one thread that got deleted you'd think you might get over that? I'm saying outside of the one thread they were good users. That's like me judging someone being a bad user by only reading stuff they do in the pit, it's just an unfair assessment. All those members haven't been here for longer than I've been here. There are great users who don't spam, don't get me wrong, but spamming up one area doesn't make someone a bad user. NPC is an awful example if the number of users petitioning for him to be de-modded is any indication. NPC hasn't been de-modded because he's improving and I don't think DBJ is the sort of guy to punish you when you're trying. You named some examples where users opinions didn't affect their modship, I named some that did, so let's agree it swings both ways.

No I just find it funny because I had the most posts in the thread, so I'm curious what differentiates me. I'm not saying I should be on there, I'm wondering why I'm not if they are though?

To be fair, we had several of those, and they went on for about 3 months. Same thing happens to threads in R&M in 10 pages. Maybe I'm just more used to it, but I don't think those threads were "wrecked." But R&M is almost as bad as the pit so maybe I'm a little jaded to it.

He's a great writer. He just isn't the most friendly toward people who disagree with him/he doesn't like. Though I guess that doesn't differentiate from most mods. And I think he makes a good mod in the Emo forum, and would be a good addition here (modding-wise) as a moderator.

DFelon: I think her second sentence alludes to the fact that friendliness isn't necessary :) You do of course have an impressive resume and I don't think any of us have a problem with you modding us. She would just like it if you were a more friendly guy :)

I'd be perfectly happy with DFelon as a mod. S&L needs more than just a mod who will kick idiots and close dumb threads. If we get a complete change, maybe we could eliminate joke users in general. Right now it's just noobs critting noobs saying things thing "OH MAN THAT ROXED! CRIT MINE?" We need some people out there setting examples.

I wish people would stop bumping my threads up to the front, I hate the fact I'm hogging the front page :upset:.

Yeah, I could go for one song every two days, but it would be hard to get the point across to the new kids, and it's not like we get THAT many song posts per day anyway.

APS has many pieces on page one, there are tons of Emokids posting their offerings, we seem to be currently modless, as Burt is mysteriously absent and avoidant, and I have totally run dry on inspiration and haven't posted anything in a long while, despite that my last offering fell down the page faster than a brick off of a building. In fact, I've been on total S&L hiatus for a while, considering the quality of what's been posted and my lack of offerings in return. They're thinking of Supermodding DFelon temporarily until a permanent Mod can be found.

I think supermodding DFelon would be the permanent solution unless either he or Burt completely left. Like I mentioned earlier, it's between supering DFelon and getting a S&L local, but Burt said he prefered DFelon, and so that's most likely to happen imo. Burt's still gonna be here, just a lot less :) Other than that, it has always been emo since I've been here...it's a trend :-/ I critted your prog piece, did I miss one since then? I always try to give crits to stuff that isn't getting any so...

It's not emo. It's just what else do teenagers have to write about besides love.

The same things everyone else does. Politics, working, humanity, nature, experience...

I would...but they all suck at it. Well, most of them. I write my fair share of emocrap too, but it still gets good reviews because it's not mind-numbingly cliche, overdone and unimaginative. :)
