Yeah, they;ve always come off as more of a hardcore band than anything else to me. They do have a few ska songs though, so I don't know if that makes them some other genre.

Unseen2k0 07-06-2005 01:14 PM

They are a punk band, just one of the better ones trying other things then screaming and playing as fast as possible.

Brain Toad 07-06-2005 03:01 PM

They started out playing ska with punk influence as Choking Victim, but as they became more Leftover Crack they started blending more hardcore and punk, losing a lot of ska. FWT has the least amount of ska of all their albums, but it is still one of the best albums I heard last year. They just experiment with a lot of sounds. The piano breaks and other instrumental breaks make them who they are. It gives them something different when they go from growling crusty hardcore to a slow insturmental done on piano.

That helped clarify everything alot. Thanks Nicko.

Brain Toad 07-06-2005 03:13 PM

It's what I do. Leftover Crack was one of the first punk bands and ska bands I got into, in fact my first thread here was asking about them.

I wouldn't be able to explain it better. That's what makes them so great. I love this band.

cheeser_1 07-06-2005 04:23 PM

i think the point is that genres are irrelevant.

I saw that awhile ago. Makes me laugh when Stza pulls the gun on the cop.

Brain Toad 07-10-2005 12:31 AM

Leftover Crack live in Austin, in RAM format, but if you could watch the CV video on Hellcat, you can watch this.

http://sxx.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1ML0X9QJCF8M00P0HC4SLOLWPK

Copy, paste, replace sxx with s35, download, be happy.

Unseen2k0 07-10-2005 12:45 AM

Brain Toad, if you go to my files on Soulseek(TenPinster) and go to my lo-cash folder, LoC extras, I have that show(Austin) and like 2 other live songs(with video) as well.

Brain Toad 07-10-2005 12:47 AM

I think I got the show from the Lo-Cash torrent, along with other shows. I have another show, but it's a pain to zip since its all seperated.

thanks a lot guys, appreciate it

Culture Shock 07-10-2005 11:06 AM

What exactly is "RAM format"? I just downloaded the Choking Victim show easily enough and then played it on Windows Media Player. Unfortunately, I tried the same with the LOC show and it didn't work! I really don't know **** about computers but if anyone wants to help this is what is says:

-The file type is supported by the Player, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the Player.

-The file type is supported, but you are trying to play it in a way that is not supported by the Player. For example, you might have tried to drag a DVD file with a .vob extension from a DVD to the Windows Media Player icon. Or you might have tried to open a .vob file by clicking Open on the File menu.

-You are trying to play one part of a multipart file. Use a newsreader or other program to combine the files, and then try again.

Thanks

cheeser_1 07-10-2005 11:14 AM

it's a real media file. you need realplayer or a realplayer alternative (they are hard to find and i don't know of any that necessarily work). i'd just as soon not watch it at all.

TheNowhereman42 07-10-2005 12:57 PM

I hate real player so much. I hate quicktime now too, because it only comes with iTunes.

Real Alternative is an actual program, it's what I use. It playus the files without the crapware that is Real Media.

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm

There's Real Alternative

That along with VLC and you can play every video file type that has ever existed.

http://www.download.com/VLC-Media-Player/3000-2194_4-10410655.html?tag=lst-0-1

There is VLC, plays every format (including Quicktime, avi, and mpg) except real

yeah, i've tried that, i couldn't get it to work, but i didn't care too much, i find occassion to use real player once or twice every year, it's not a high priority for me.

Brain Toad 07-10-2005 03:28 PM

I found a program that compresses many video files into one video file, so once I do that to the Leftover Crack show I have, I will YSI it.

I watched the first few songs (hadn't watched it before) and the picture quality is really good. The cameraman ius a bit unsteady, but he is right up against the stage, probably in the Pit. He is close to Alec, so you see his bass most of the time, or Ezra playing. Not many shots of Stza, who is way off on the other side of the stage. The video is Live at Pierre Semard Chambly from 2004, don't know where that venue is though, wasn't labeled.

Any idea how big it will be when compressed as i would love to see it. Would i need this program to uncompress it or could i just use the windows one for it?

Brain Toad 07-10-2005 03:35 PM

No program needed. It just takes the seperate video files and puts them together in one video file, so you can watch it all at once. Not really compressing, more like combineing I used the wrong word, sorry.

It may be kind of big, the sum of all the videos, let me figure that out right now.

EDIT: size of all the files now is 780 MB, when I did the Against Me! one a few minutes ago, it ended up being a few megs more than the sum, but it might've been because I changed file types from wmv to mpg.

FFS, i'm dial-up so that would take a long time to download :upset: If you are bored anytime throw it onto soulseek and i'll get it there

Brain Toad 07-10-2005 03:45 PM

It'll go on slsk no matter what. I'm just YSI for the uncool non-slskers.

Cool  just be prepared for a long download from me

somekindahate 07-10-2005 04:52 PM

This sounds cool, you should torrent it though, get it to everyone MUCH faster then you would with soulseek.

Brain Toad 07-10-2005 05:10 PM

The LoC video ended up being 488 MB.

I'm not going to torrent it because it's too much work to turn it into a torrent, find a tracker and then seed it. Soulseek and YSI is fine.

Culture Shock 07-11-2005 01:19 PM

Oh well, I guess I won't be seeing the video. I guess I'll just wait to see them on Saturday with Subhumans in Baltimore!

what's your slsk name?

Twat_Out_Of_Hell 07-16-2005 06:47 AM

right, i've found a few more LOC vids.

This is a Stza acoustic performance: http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=STZA
(fairly low quality)

There's some LOC vids here: http://www.putfile.com/search.php

Possibly a CV vid here: http://www.putfile.com/search.php

This site seems to be very good. www.putfile.com
