I don't understand the fuss about Coheed...I don't find them all that impressive. Maybe I'm missing the point.
Maybe you're listening to even better music, and there's just no room for them to shine in your playlist. If you paid attention to modern music trends on the radio and MTV, you'd see that Co&Ca have taken the poppy hooks of pop-punk and the whiny vocals and added amazing guitar mini-solos and drum fills. Imagine if you saw New Found Glory playing and all of a sudden their guitarist (one of them, anyway) started playing an amazing lead underneath the second chorus. That's about what it is, and also the voice. "A Favor House Atlantic" is the single that's on MTV, and that's all the higher Claudio's voice gets. Most of the time it's a bit more subdued, if you don't like that. So, that's the point. "The fuss" is that I started getting into them and bumped all their threads in Alt/Indie, CD Reviews, and Pop-Punk forums. Also, their lyrics are very weird, but they have a point that will come out as soon as a comic book based on the story is printed. The chance to know for sure what a progressive band's lyrics mean is the cause of much fuss, let me tell you. |
I'm getting into Massive Attack. I've only heard one song, but I'm getting an album soon.
|
Last couple of days it's been
The Brian Jonestown Massacre Pilot To Gunner Brainiac Enon They are all really good. Brainiac's probably my favourite out of that bunch, they are a very very good band. |
Calexico - Feast Of Wire has been declared Tangy Zizzle's Official Album of The Week
|
I bought "El Cielo" from Dredg this week and I'm trying to get into it. Parts of it I find interesting, but for the most part it's rather mediocre and boring to me. :o
|
I saw The Stands at Move 2004 when i went to see the Pixies and they were awesome. They sounded like a more indie version of Mars Volta, especially when they just jammed for about 15 minutes
|
I just got:
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless Lambchop - AWCMON/NOUCMON Joey Cape/Tony Sly - Acoustic Lost in Translation soundtrack They are all outstanding albums. I have never heard anyone ANYWHERE talk about Lambchop, and they are an amazing amazing band. So good. |

Brainiac They are all really good. Brainiac's probably my favourite out of that bunch, they are a very very good band.
i should have told you about these guys earlier, to me they sound as if the pixies went to mars and used alien technology to create melody and rythem unheard of in the earth's atmosphere... songs one must get... i am a cracked machine kiss me you jacked up jerk Meathook Manicure this little piggy go freaks go nothing ever changes |

I have been diggin' Desaparecidos for a while...
And now i want to get into Bright eyes (i know im going back in time :p). Wich album do you recommend, or would say is the best from them? |
LIFTED or The Story is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground is awesome and the best Bright Eyes album to start with. It's one of my favourite albums of all-time. After that, Fevers and Mirrors is pretty bloody good as well.
|
He's right, you know.
|
Thanks you gyus very much, i guess i'll go with Keep your ear to the ground.
|
Glad to help.
Has anyone here heard Keane?
http://www.keaneband.com/ Try Everybody's Changing
By the way, they dont have a guitar player. Its worth checking out. |
Lately I've been listening to a lot of:
Coheed & Cambria Taken Death Cab For Cutie The Deviates Spoon |
I quite like Keane, but I think they are getting too much hype. I like:
Everybody's Changing Bedshaped |
I don't really like them much. If I want music with bass, drums and piano, I'll take Ben Folds Five.
|
The Mint Chicks new EP Anti-Tiger is great, it's really crazy stuff. Much more experimental than the first.

I prefer BFF too. I'm on a Melvins kick at the moment...tomorrow I'm getting Houdini, w00t. |

Woah! They have a new EP? I haven't even been able to get my hands on "Octagon x3" yet. I'be been diggin' Beck's Mutations album and good 'ol Relationship of Command today. |
Today on the stereo in my head I have been playing 'Everybodys gotta learn sometimes' by Beck, and also pondering how I can get that song without having to buy the whole 'Eternal sunshine...' soundtrack. (I cant d/l it either)
I have also decided to buy Oceanic by Isis, on the strength of 'Carry' |

Oh shit they have a new EP? I must obtain this. |
I've been listening a lot to Bob Dylan, great lyrics and not to talk about the music.
Also Blind melon - Life ain't so ****ty (i would have puted this one on the top 10 alt songs, but got to late :D) and some latin american reggae groups (gondwana, Cultura profetica.) And for the georgie fame fan: check out the song "yeah, yeah" or the one with van morrison and mose allison "one of this days" |
ive been listening to sunny day real estate - diary(great album), some american football, bright eyes - fevers and mirrors, alice in chains - jar of flies, and the cure - disintegration.

A Tribe Called Quest.
I've known/liked them for a while but in the past couple of days I've rediscoverd them. An amazingly talented group. |
Good work...they were the first decent hip-hop artist that I liked.
|
Nine Inch Nail's "Hurt". Not sure why... And I've been diggin' Circle Takes The Square. Crazy stuff.
|
One band that is great to listen to is The Stands with their album All Years Leaving.
They're kind of acoustic/folk/soft rock. I'm not really sure how to describe them but they're amazin'. I can't pick one song because they are all good. Trust me! |
The Unicorns - Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone? has been declared Tangy Zizzle's Official Album of The Week
|
Timmy and the Lords of Darkness...
Now that is hard-core! |
Well, right now I have a no doubt song stuck in my head, dammit. But i've been digging The Pixies, and Sonic Youth right now.
|
Broken Social Scene
Iron & Wine |
I'm really into Cursive at the moment. I only just got The Ugly Organ and it is brilliant. Thanks to Tapeworm for turning me onto them. :thumb:
|
DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE is a pretty kickass band guys
and if you like jam bands listen to stringcheese incident |
Yes, Death Cab For Cutie are what i'm listening to mostly, they're very good. And Jimmy Eat World. And The Killers.
Has anyone got Reubens album? If i did, i'm sure i'd be listening to that, but i have no money :upset: |
