We Followed Tigers destroys all other three pieces.
We Followed Tigers is pretty good.

They don't compare to Explosions in the Sky though, despite how similar the sound is.

Nepenthe 09-11-2006 04:59 PM

Their acoustic sounds and mellow parts are similar, but aside from that, the two are in quite different boats. EITS is a much more atmospheric affair, while WFT are much more energetic and aggressive. I'm normally an atmosphere guy, but in this case I'd take WFT over EITS. There's just something about that band that I love.
Try Russian Circles also, great band with great songs.
Aye, aye, sir.
We Followed Tigers destroys all other three pieces.
Maybe it's my more agressive bias, but I definitely say Russian Circles > WFT

Tyr 09-11-2006 05:55 PM

Listening to Russian Circles and I must say that I like what I hear.

Rumors are a' flyin!

No kidding!! Let's hear?!
No kidding!! Let's hear?!
I think someone said something about it earlier in the thread, but I will try to find my first source...

Moon Flavor 09-11-2006 08:47 PM

My only problem with We Followed Tigers is that they have a very amatuer (yet cool) sound. I still pick them over EITS just because I'm not really an atmosphere guy really. Wow, why do I even like this genre

Any people with a broad music taste wanna trade over soulseek? I just finally got my account up, and apparently I have over 42,000 files...

So just message me or something if you just want to shoot the breeze or work something out. My username is the same.

Kage 09-11-2006 09:49 PM

I have a broad music taste, but I don't have near that many files.

Kage 09-11-2006 10:10 PM

Txus and Dancin': I'm resending that Rosetta album, so it should be in your e-mail inboxes momentarily.

Nepenthe 09-11-2006 10:16 PM

And possibly mine, please? Thanks in advance.

I would get the album on my own, but if you're sending it out, it'd just be easier to get it that way.

Kage 09-11-2006 10:18 PM

Sure thing. I can't recall, what's your opinion on bands like Isis and the like?

EDIT: And what's your e-mail again?

Nepenthe 09-11-2006 10:29 PM

I like everything from Oceanic up, but not so much a fan of The Red Sea, Celestial, and those. Good albums, but nothing mindblowing for me.

Okay, you should like Rosetta in that case.

OH MY GOD, I fucked up the upload again! I only uploaded disc 2.

When you figured out the uploading stuff, might it be possible to send the link my way too...i'm really interested to hear it :thumb:

Cheers
I'm listening to Do Make Say Think right now for the first time, and it is really really good...

The bass especially, in the song 1978, such a cool line...
Word, I love that band. Definitely one of the best bands on the Constellation roster. Check a concert of theirs out here (it's 4 years old though, but still really great):

http://www.fabchannel.com/ (just type in "do make say think" in the search thingy)

If you haven't done so yet, check out Tortoise, they have quite a similar sound, although Tortoise has less atmosphere in their songs.

bwnstl 09-12-2006 12:26 PM

Kage, could I get that Rosetta as well when you figure out the upload? Much appreciated.

Tyr 09-12-2006 01:50 PM

I'm adding another Post Rock band to the list. GYBE are good, as well. The list is growing...

Millions Now Living is overflowing with atmosphere. TNT has much less, but I think it's a better album overall.

bucket 09-12-2006 06:09 PM

RED SPAROWES new album Every Red Heart Shines Toward The Red Sun will be released on 2xLP, but it was pushed back to the 26th. (Neurot is releasing the CD version on the 19th)

A 2xLP is what now?

And the Godspeed thing is apparently not as rumorific as I was led to believe. I guess the same rumor (reformation) pops up quite often, but it's just because people talk and nothing ever comes of it.

Txus 09-12-2006 06:14 PM

As I'm a sucker for leaks I already have the new Red Sparowes and it's utterly amazing. Much better than ATSD in my humble opinion.

Tyr 09-12-2006 06:17 PM

Some of the tracks from the new Red Sparowes album didn't work on my computer, so I got angry and deleted the whole thing. Albums are meant to be listened to from beginning to end.

Txus 09-12-2006 06:20 PM

Totally true. From where did you download the album, by the way?

Tyr 09-12-2006 06:21 PM

I got it from the mail you sent me a couple of days ago.

Daven 09-12-2006 06:25 PM

There was another link sent in the DU.

Txus 09-12-2006 06:25 PM

Oh, I totally forgot :p

Weird, they are all working for me.

Tyr 09-12-2006 06:28 PM
There was another link sent in the DU.
I'm not in the DU.
Oh, I totally forgot :p

It's really weird 'cause three of the songs said they were playable only, but they wouldn't play at all in Winamp.

Daven 09-12-2006 06:29 PM

Hmmmmm, would you like the link then?

Tyr 09-12-2006 06:30 PM
Hmmmmm, would you like the link then?
Yes, please.
