It's on Trivium's website under Media.
Yeah, I checked it out, good stuff..... I'm waiting for them to upload the video for "A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation". It should be soon

bungshal 07-28-2005 01:45 PM

I'm trying to get the drums down for pull harder. All I can say is Oo Er.
Every time I think I've got it, I listen back and theres like a hundred little rolls and other parts I've missed out. Damn that Travis Smith for being so good, damn him.

Shred Danson 07-28-2005 03:01 PM
That's one song. It's the worse song on the album. You don't like trivium because of ONE song?
I wouldn't bother with the close-mided types that enter this thread. Some people are idiots, and judge a band by one song. Good for them, let them revel in their ignorance...
Only think I hate about this band is the screaming. i can't stand screaming
I'd get used to it, my friend. Screaming, whether you realize it or not, in all forms has been quite the integral part of metal music for the past, say 15 years. Be it Black Metal, Death Metal, Melodic Death, some thrash, or metalcore, you're going to hear screaming. I'd just focus on the music.

Matt Heafy actually went to my middle school the whole time I was there so I saw him around a lot. Trivium played the talent show when i was in 7th grade and they played "No Leaf Clover" from Metallica. I remember it sucking because of his vocals (he didnt actually 'sing' the song, more of growled/screamed it which i didnt like) but wow looks like this band has grown a lot since then! (he's only a year ahead of me so that would be about 6 years ago)

I don't personally like their music too much but they've DEFINITELY improved since back in our middle school days

Liar.
Trivium formed in 2000 after the band's original singer saw Heafy perform the Offspring's "Self Esteem" with a drummer at his high school talent show. The band members chose the name Trivium, which is Latin for the intersection between the three schools of learning: grammar, rhetoric and logic, because they liked the way it implied an open-mindedness to different styles, and summed up their musical aesthetic. After a couple of gigs at parties, the original singer quit the band and Heafy took the wheel.
i dont think i have any yearbooks from middle school but i can ask some of my friends

Endless Obsession 07-29-2005 12:30 AM
A gunshot to the head of treipdation is such an awesome song.

About 4 minutes into it they do this old school metal anthem thing. Where they keep saying HEY........HEY.......HEY. So cool to see them going old school metal. You guys know the part I am talking about?
Thats the corniest part of the album besides Dying in your Arms. I hate that part.

killa_bees77 07-29-2005 12:37 AM
Just got the video of them playing the Metalhammer awards, and ****, Heafy is a madman. Hes a very good showman, i loved it when he goes 'THIS IS PULL HARDER ON THE STRINGS OF YOUR MARTYR!!!!! SHOW ME WHAT YOU'VE GOT!'
I'm watching that video right now. man Matt is a really great guitarist. I really need to start practicing now that im goin to college so i can get that good. Great musicians, cheesy music

Cheesy music??? Wow dude that is unfair... let's see what music you've put out lately

Apocalyptic Raids 07-29-2005 04:22 AM

Nothing wrong with cheesy music

Arucard 07-29-2005 05:57 AM

Cheese > All.

And Trivium are not cheesy, there is nothing about that them that is even cheesy in the slightest.

shamed-angel 07-29-2005 06:00 AM

Can anyone give me a link to somewhere I can host photo's of me with trivium on here? I met them in Cardiff and got in on their guestlist.
I even payed for Matt Heafy's sub.

shamed-angel 07-29-2005 06:13 AM

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b44/shamed-angel/randomphotos047.jpg

Me, Matt Heafy and Paulo. My girlfriend took them on a disposable camera, so I just took these photo's of the photo with my digicam. Looks a bit gay but you can see it.

One of the best show's I've ever seen. He played the solo from "Like Light To The Flies" in my face. It was amazing.

Josue 07-29-2005 07:15 AM

Real good new band, I especially Like the track "Rain". You really can hear the old thrash influence, just compare the structure of the riffs compared to other metalcore bands like Unearth- which is more hardcore orientated. Trivium even move on stage like the old thrash bands did. top stuff

Josue 07-29-2005 07:37 AM

Oh, and I'm not saying Trivium are metalcore, because they're not, they're metal. I've been waiting ages for a band with the line up and influence behind these guys.

killa_bees77 07-29-2005 07:42 AM
Cheesy music??? Wow dude that is unfair... let's see what music you've put out lately
hey man its just an opinion. i dont know that it is but something about them comes off as cheesy. maybe its the singing or i dont know. but you know what i am downloading ascendancy right now so i can have a better idea of what these guys sound like because up to now i've only heard their old stuff and i've heard the new stuff is a lot better.

oh, and don't worry, you will see what kind of stuff i'm capable of putting out eventually :thumb: i just need to find band members... :p

Josue 07-29-2005 07:45 AM

hey, killa bees77, how old are you? (just wondering because you went to matt heafys school)

shamed-angel 07-29-2005 07:51 AM
hey, killa bees77, how old are you? (just wondering because you went to matt heafys school)
No he didn't... What makes you think that?

Josue 07-29-2005 07:54 AM

he says so in some post he posted way back

shamed-angel 07-29-2005 07:57 AM
I really need to start practicing now that im goin to college so i can get that good.
That was the only thing he said about school in this thread... I think you're a bit of a retard...
That would be kind of hard to pull off, considering he's half asian...
And he has a stupid amount of Acne that I only noticed when I met him. He must wear loads of make up on stage.

im listening to "Rain" right now. Man, you're right, this is actually pretty good. Better than "Pull harder...", i like the intro riffs (trash-ish like you said)

Gave_Up 07-29-2005 10:20 AM

Im gonna be straight up and honest, I don't like Trivium but I accept that they are much more talented on their instruments than probaly most other metal bands. However, this does not make thewir music better than all other metal bands, being fast on a guitar doesn't mean you can write amazing riffs. Ascendancy should not be compared to Ride The Lighting, not because its not as good (IMO its not though) but because it is two different bands and styles. I'd say the vocals probaly are what bring them down the most and some of the music is rather empty at places.

yeah i agree after listening to Ascendancy, the vocals are horrible. Other than that the music is pretty good, nothing TOTALLY amazing but definitely some of the best in the new-school metal genre right now. I just wish Matt's vocals were better.

Vocals are awesome IMO.... just take some getting used to

FlyingPaul_83 07-29-2005 01:59 PM

123, The vocals are superb. Anyone who doesn'y like screming vocals, just try it out. Try listening to songs the whole way through and you should get used to it. That's what I did, and know I like harsh vocals.

Shred Danson 07-29-2005 08:47 PM

Hey, no flamage in here guys. At least try something original when you want to slam the band instead of repeating every other negative post in this thread.

FlyingPaul_83 07-30-2005 12:08 AM

has anyone here seen them at ozzfest? How long was thier set? did they kick ***?
