When I think of heavy and Children of Bodom I think Sixpounder.

If I'm not mistaken, thats one of the only songs CoB plays in drop C.

I didn't think HCDR was as good as their other cds...it lacks the more melodic feel of the other albums, sacrificing it for heaviness.

Hopefully, their new album goes back to the FTR days.

Thor 06-15-2005 07:41 PM

I enjoyed HCDR more than FTR, but I thought that Something Wild is better than both of them. I haven't heard Hatebreeder yet, but I really want to. Can anyone send it to me over AIM?

I could, but my AIM schedule is really sporadic...

If you want to, my sn is ChildrenOfFilth6...probably won't be on anytime soon though.

The Buttloaves 06-15-2005 07:45 PM

Hatebreeder is their best album.

How do you know this?

Master Of Nebulah Frost 06-15-2005 07:55 PM

Check out the Scythes Of Bodom site...

In a recent interview with the Finnish music magazine Soundi Alexi revealed that some completely new influences can be heard on "Are You Dead Yet?". He told that the album will be even more straight-forward than Hate Crew Deathroll and that it will have some industrial elements on it, not forgetting COB's trademark, the super fast guitar and keyboard solos.

The Buttloaves 06-15-2005 08:01 PM

I like the Hatebreeder/FTR days...even though HCDR was insane

To which genre do YOU define CoB?????

ThrashMaster27 06-16-2005 10:25 AM
To which genre do YOU define CoB?????
Power Metal with harsh vocals.

dest. Chaos 06-16-2005 10:28 AM

I need many posts on my question. cos my friend read somewhere that they are black metal.. and lol.. just... no... I define them as power metal too....(with harsh vocals...)

ThrashMaster27 06-16-2005 10:35 AM

The vocals could be described as Black metal, but their overall sound is nowhere near.

dest. Chaos 06-16-2005 10:40 AM

the vocals could be described as death metal too....

This is what Children of Bodom is. No more dicussions.

Not really...
Most death metal is either really low, or really high.
And COB is more... in the middle imo.

Actually, with every album he's changed his range to just high, to high and low.

BassMasterMike88 06-16-2005 03:26 PM

I've just gotten into COB pretty recently, all I've really heard is follow the reaper but i plan to pick up an album ASAP once i get paid. Just i thought but i think they sound like awesome death metal with a bit of thrash mixed in. Oh and if anyone could recomend me an album to pick up that would be great.

Hate me! is the best COB song. I love the solos, that song always impresses me- Alexi Laiho is such an awesome shredder, his guitar work in the band Synergy is overall amazing too. I keep hearing about how norther is just a cheap rip-off of them. Never listened to them, opinions....anyone?

Nother do have quite a bodom sound but they are, IMO a good band. The guitar stuff is good, Not Alexi good but good. The vocals are a bit more screamy than Bodom but are very similar. Also there is a band named Kalmah who are also very Bodom-ish. If you would like I could upload a few songs for you.

Hate Me! isn't the best CoB song, it's not even the best song on that album. The best song off of FTR is Children of Decadence by far.

It is an awesome song, but Kissing The Shadows is their best song.

most death metal.......... well in flames is like low and middle...(melodic DM but still)

Taste_My_Scythe 06-21-2005 09:58 AM

Bed of Razors has been going around in my head for the past 2 weeks. I was trying to figure out how to play it last night.

ArcLite 06-21-2005 10:02 AM

It's probably the easiest song of theirs to play, was for me anyway. But still a great tune. Kind has a "fun" feel to it, like you could put it on a metal party mix.

Taste_My_Scythe 06-21-2005 10:06 AM

I was having a bit of a hard time with it. I can play peices of Everytime I Die, the whole of Sixpounder (except for the bridge and solos...*grin*) and some stuff off the Alexi Laiho young guitar extra.

Bed of Razors is the best Bodom song ever. :D

flamesofbodom 06-21-2005 10:07 AM

Sixpounder is a blast! The solo is easy b/c its repetitive and if you get on part you pretty much got it except for moving one finger
