How did the other thread get in front of this one? People are so stupid.
Perhaps because a more intelligent person linked them to this thread, and reported the other thread for closing, like the mods want.

EDIT: I second that people are stupid.

I really like this album. It's quite possibly their best album ever, or at least their best one since the self-titled release.

"Question!" is my favorite song on the album, but there really aren't any weak songs. I also enjoy the extended Greek wedding dance music on "Radio/Video."

Brain Toad 05-25-2005 12:18 AM

Really good album from them, I enjoyed it.

Skit 05-25-2005 05:01 AM

Violent Pornography is the best song off the album :thumb:
Dont you think that serj looks a bit like Wierd Al?
Yeah i noticed that when i saw "System of a down live" on MTV...it was a little weird when i noticed it
He is, although when you think about it, he has the most talent in the band.

I'm going to have to disagree.
John is amazing at what he does.

TheSubtleArts 05-25-2005 02:58 PM

i think what Daron does as far as writing parts for guitar, bass, and vocals (and probably some drums too since its his favorite instrument), recording and producing,, i think he has the most talent in the band. i kno that john is a great drummer though, but i think it takes more talent to do all the other stuff that Daron does.

Mambuto_O'Mally 05-25-2005 03:02 PM

^^^
He's an egomaniac though.

I think his days are numbered in SOAD if he keeps up what he's doing.

No, he writes almost all of their music, they cant just kick him out. If they did, there would be no more SOAD, or they would be completely different.

PepsiMetal 05-25-2005 03:54 PM

Yea, there's no way they're kicking daron out. They probably wont kick none of them out cause they're all good and they probably have bonded since they all have similar background and such.

Rothmans 05-25-2005 04:06 PM

Daron is a good all round musician, He use to be my hero when i was younger :embarrased:

The only one i could see getting kicked out, and them still remaining the same band, would be Shavo. Hes not really a big part of the band.

BlueThunder 05-25-2005 06:22 PM

No

Hell no! Nobody can leave SOAD. Nobody's going to be kicked out either. They can NEVER break up! I'm not going through what I went through with RATM again. So I'm going to say it again: They can NEVER break up!! Not even Shavo can leave. He's part of it just as much as serj or daron, he's been there since the begining.

FFbassist26 05-25-2005 08:11 PM

i think system of a down kick ***. daron is a very talented guitarist in my opinion

Mambuto_O'Mally 05-25-2005 09:46 PM

Well heres what I'm saying:

Imagine your in a band and all of a sudden one of the members starts doing everything, I think you'd be pissed, ESPECIALLY if you have had some success.
I'm a SOAD fan and I used to think Daron was the greatest; but I feel bad for Shavo. I mean he barely played anything on the new albums. And think about Serj. Half the time he's not even singing his own lyrics. I don't think it would be wise to kick Daron out but you have to look at it from every angle.

And didn't Serj write all the lyrics for the first album? I'm too lazy to check the booklet

Moses 05-25-2005 10:03 PM

I wouldn't mind seeing Daron get kicked out because the guitarist that replaced him would probably be less annoying. The music would change drastically which would be a bad thing in my eyes, but you never know.

From the looks of one of the new interviews, Shavo was saying that the "Daron played almost all the bass" thing was blown way out of proportion. Shavo said that he himself played most of it, and then Daron went in afterwards and did some of the trickier parts.

Daron apparantly has always written 90% of the music, and the vast majority of his songs come from HIS ideas. But Serj does put his poetic spin on them. Daron said that he has written almost every SOAD chorus, but Serj puts his spin on Daron's ideas for lyrics in the verses. On the new album it sounds like most of the lyrics are just Daron's, which are more repetitive and less poetic than Serj's, but I think he gets his point across.

Daron isn't getting kicked out of the band, he more or less IS System of a Down. We're stuck with his good, and stuck with his insane.

So you want him to get kicked out, and you know it would make music sound different with new guitarist, and that's bad.

ACircuitShock 05-25-2005 11:05 PM

SOAD is definitley my guilty pleasure. I love how frantic and schizophrenic they are, they can be a different band from song to song and I love that about them. Alot of people classify them as nu-metal, but they are alot more experimental and creative than alot of the ****ty nu metal out there. Different from the rest of stuff i listen to, but i listen to alot of different stuff. Anways, i wouldn't mind seeing them live some time... good stuff.

Does it matter if he is annoying when throwing him out the band will ruin System of a Down?

I recommend you see that sooner of later SOAD is coming to an end whether you like it or not

Lost in Hollywood is just a little slower and its not what we're used to listen from SOAD but I say it is a good track. But the cd has better ones like Question! I love that song :thumb:

For an album with only un-released songs, I thought it was really good.

Replace Lost In Hollywood with Violent Pornography and 123.

YDload 05-26-2005 09:10 PM

Lost in Hollywood is very similar to Radiohead's "Street Spirit," or at least it seems. Of course the vocals are very different.
