I have created the most bitchen hit-hat ever. I've taken an 18" china and a 14" hi-hat and have made. The TRASH HAT! Dun dun dun. Surprisingly, it sounds bitchen.

led zeppelin139 02-03-2005 11:17 PM

i want to get a 16" crash, 14" hihats, and a 21ish" ride i play classic rock, and rock. i dont want anything too heavy or too light.

shadow_stalker 02-04-2005 03:48 AM

thanks
i want to get a 16" crash, 14" hihats, and a 21ish" ride i play classic rock, and rock. i dont want anything too heavy or too light.
look into some paiste 2002 they're made for that kind of music or some AA Mediums/Medium-thin
or A Zildjian Medium/medium -thin
whats the difference between a crash and a crash/ride?
A crash has more attack, and as rides are usually pingy when you combine the both you get something like a ride but with a lot more wash and balanced stick definition

breakster 02-04-2005 08:33 AM

hey guys im looking for a crash or entire series that i can use for rock, but i want warmth and relativly quick decay because i enjoy playing funk, jazz and latin styles too. im thinking bout A's or A customs

i have a 16" crash and a 20" ride, would it be a better idea to got a 18" crash or a 18" crah/ride?

sublimeisnice 02-04-2005 10:20 AM

if you already have a ride, than go for then 18" crash

shadow_stalker 02-04-2005 10:25 AM

what cymbals do you have already? if your just on zbt's or B8's or something then i would suggest that you replace those first, then worry about getting a second crash

Murd_666 02-04-2005 12:35 PM

^ya^or you'll regret it, more cymbals<better cymbals

shadow_stalker 02-04-2005 04:00 PM
what cymbals do you have already? if your just on zbt's or B8's or something then i would suggest that you replace those first, then worry about getting a second crash
my crash is Sabian Pro and my Ride is a Stagg, but i really like the sound they both give so i dont want to replace them

also i have had second thoughts about the 18" crash, would getting a second 16" but a paiste 502 rather than a sabian be a good idea? (is there much difference in the sound?)

Murd_666 02-04-2005 05:00 PM

I don't Really think so... but I haven't Heard a paiste 502 and besides it not the brand that determins the sound, It's the cymbals itself and how it's made...

shadow_stalker 02-04-2005 05:13 PM

yeah, i dont really want to get another sabian crash incase they sound to similar

i was just thinkin that since they are different brands/companies they would just have a different sound

hm...i will have to think about it

groomits 02-04-2005 05:42 PM

just remember that EVERY cymbals are different. Sabian, ziljian and paiste got over 100 (??) different cymbals. you can be sure that you will not take a cymbal that will sound like another.

bobby__johnny 02-04-2005 10:33 PM

even if you pick the same model and size...it WILL NOT sound the same as the other.

A's can be used for pretty much anything, but for the styles you described I'd say K Customs would be your best bet. Be warned, they're expensive but worth it.

bobby__johnny 02-05-2005 08:18 AM

i'd reccomend the HHX line from Sabian, but like those K Customs, they arent cheap (they are cheaper than the K customs though)

sm1th 02-05-2005 05:25 PM

im looking to buy a second crash. A's a pretty tough to get hold of rouynd here but its do-able but A customs are pretty abundant. I want a low tone. which out of the A or A custom models would suit this best?
thanks.

bobby__johnny 02-06-2005 11:05 AM

i'd say the regular A's are better for a lower tone...the bigger the better. maybe a 19" Medium-thin Crash

breakster 02-06-2005 12:02 PM

thanks, was looking at k's today. think i might get a k custom session ride. and just mix and match the rest.

thanks bobby jonny

chaos_through_order_13 02-06-2005 02:24 PM

i'm thinking of getting a couple cheap splashes, probably by stagg or UFIP, but i don't know much about either brand. i'm looking for real punchy, kinda glassy splashes, and i was wondering if anybody could recommend a specific series or a specific cymbal by either of these brands, any advice is appreciated. thanks

an_original_name 02-06-2005 03:13 PM

i dont know anything about stagg or UFIP, but i think an A custom 10" splash fits that description pretty well.

groomits 02-06-2005 04:05 PM

for punk rock, pop rock, wich crash is better?

AAXplosion 17'' crash

or

AAX Stage 18'' crash

I tried some and these are the two that I liked the more

llama123 02-06-2005 04:11 PM

^ I think they would both do nicely, though I would say the Stage crash as it would be slightly more full bodied and stronger.

an_original_name 02-06-2005 04:18 PM

^^^ i duno. i have a 16" AAXplosion crash and its got alot of body to it.

bobby__johnny 02-06-2005 05:17 PM

i'd go with the stage...better for forceful playing. the AAXplosion is a bit too fast and punchy.

dum_drum 02-06-2005 08:33 PM

I know this must be asked alot but..........

hey whats a cheap crash and a cheap ride but both sound good for the money im looking to pay around 100 for each thanks

Plan B. 02-06-2005 08:42 PM

What kind of sound do you want?

J0llyhunter 02-06-2005 08:46 PM

wat would the K constinople med low ride, K dark crash thin and A zildjian & cle vinatge crash be compared to for sabian?
