I found this F.A.Q. about RATM to be quite interesting. Lots of wierd things I didn't know were in there. It is fairly lengthy, but worth the read.
I wouldn't say Audioslave is Neo-Grunge.
I would.

opeth_oasis 01-08-2005 11:48 PM

RATM are one of my favourite bands, Zak De La Rocka is bloody awesome, one of my favourite singers. I love Tom Morellos extra long strings, very cool. What genre would ou say RATM was? I'd say Fusion/Alternative

lunch998 01-08-2005 11:49 PM

Rap/rock.

Rasta Rocker 01-09-2005 12:07 AM

opeth_oasis 01-09-2005 12:29 AM

That sucks! My condolences :upset:

At least you were into them when they were still making music. My friend just got me into them about three months ago.

Rasta Rocker 01-09-2005 12:44 AM

yeah ive just been recently getting into them, especially cause im a bass player, i love playing their music

opeth_oasis 01-09-2005 01:07 AM

its awesome fun to play, i love playing Killing in The Name of's solo, sounds awesome witht he correct amount of Wah. I don't care to much for audioslave, but they are not a bad band, just not my thing.

Apocalyptic Raids 01-09-2005 02:16 AM

i didnt mind audioslave's album, but i thought some of the tracks were pretty poor.

hammet_ownz 01-09-2005 04:58 AM

yeah agreed, theyre probably the funnest band to play if u r a bassist. the way the bass excentuates the guitar and drum line, fantastic. i just love playing the bombrack solo, especially on double bass, sounds fantastic.

flea_otherside 01-09-2005 06:38 AM

It's hard to put RATM under a certain genre. I'd say rap/funk/rock. NOT fusion.

On subject; Someone told me RATM were nu metal once. i got pretty annoyed. But.. are they? i still call it Hard Rock.

Thor 01-09-2005 10:17 AM
to quote flea_otherside, "It's hard to put RATM under a certain genre"
If I was forced to classify them, I would say that they fall under the "awesome" genre.

Arucard 01-09-2005 10:31 AM

Id probably call em Rap Metal tbo...

NuGgEt123 01-09-2005 10:45 AM

yeah they are rap metal, sadly... because that puts them in the same genre as limp bizkit and the likes...wow i can't believe this thread is still going O.o

Darkness 01-09-2005 12:15 PM

There not really metal though...and limp biz would be something like rap nu-metal.

munky_magik 01-09-2005 12:30 PM

I think that most people will see them as different things and define genres differently.
Each to their own :)

Darkness 01-09-2005 01:03 PM

What...that doesn't make any sence...there nothing like nu-metal they were just out at the same time...

munky_magik 01-09-2005 01:11 PM
What...that doesn't make any sence...there nothing like nu-metal they were just out at the same time...

they're also one of the fathers of nu-metal though, even though they're not a nu-metal band
He means that they're not nu-metal but they influenced nu-metal artists.

Arucard 01-09-2005 02:32 PM

So, who here has heard roll right off Bulls On Parade? Possibly the simplest but best riff ever invented.

Dr. Jake Destructo 01-09-2005 02:38 PM
If I was forced to classify them, I would say that they fall under the "awesome" genre.
Very well put. RATM is a band that you can't really classifie, due to their varying styles. Sort of like Pink Floyd. We can put both of those bands under the "awesome" genre.

Darkness 01-09-2005 02:42 PM
So, who here has heard roll right off Bulls On Parade? Possibly the simplest but best riff ever invented.
You meen Roll Right off of Evil Empire, and I'm sure we've all heard it.
