You can't possbily go wrong with Painkiller. I mean, look at the title track. They made a song about a metallic superhero saving the world from Armageddon and they made it work.
That's because he is the Painkiller. This is THE Painkiller.

ARRRRRRGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Leather Rebel has some killer riffage.

Steerpike 04-15-2005 09:51 AM

And Touch of Evil has that great atmospheric sound.

Have you seen it live on the bonus DVD that came with AOR?

Steerpike 04-15-2005 09:59 AM

I haven't watched the bonus DVD yet. I've been pretty busy all week.

One Shot at Glory is such an underrated song. The leads are some of Priest's best, and the rhythm guitar is great, but people bash it as being too "weak" for the album.

I love the breakdown before the main solos.
Hey thanks for flaming me.

What's your favourite album then?

My 5 favourites are

Ram It Down
Painkiller
Hellbent For Leather
Screaming For Vengeance
Sad Wings Of Destiny
Hey, sorry didn't mean to flame ya - any Priest fan is a pal of mine! My faves are (tricky to put them in order tho')
Sad Wings
Painkiller
Killing Machine
Defenders of the Faith
Screaming for Vengeance

Riva 04-17-2005 05:21 AM

Ah yes, Sad Wings is a classic. No love for Ram It Down?

ThrashMaster27 04-17-2005 05:40 AM

Five faves in order?

1. Stained Class
2. Screaming For Vengeance
3. Painkiller
4. Sad Wings Of Destiny
5. British Steel

Ram It Down is an alright album. The title track is one of my fave Priest tracks ever, but it's a little too inconsistant for me.

Hehe, Love Zone lets it down a bit. Heavy Metal and Ram It Down are brilliant, and who can deny Blood Red Skies and Hard As Iron?

ThrashMaster27 04-17-2005 06:51 AM

Hard As Iron is another classic. Blood Red Skies never appealed much to me and Heavy Metal is kinda average for Priest. I just think it was a stepping stone to the brilliant Painkiller.

Brew 04-17-2005 07:08 AM

I only have 5 Priest albums, I'll try to order them for how much I like them

1. Sin After Sin
2. Painkiller
3. Angel of Retribution
4. British Steel
5. Ram it Down

Rrrrrrr 04-17-2005 07:43 AM

5. Stained Class

Deth 04-18-2005 07:52 AM

1. Painkiller
2. Unleashed in the East (If it counts)
3. Screaming for Vengence
4. Angel of Retribution

It's all I have, but I'm getting Metalogy soon to warm up before the concert.
Ah yes, Sad Wings is a classic. No love for Ram It Down?
I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. I agree with the guy who sais it was a stepping stone to Painkiller. Perhaps there was a little too much Turbo still in them when they made it! :)
PS Turbo Lover and Out in the Cold are quite reasonable on Turbo. The others aren't. Esp. Parental Guidance. Talk about US style sellout cack

Riva 04-18-2005 09:05 PM

I think it was a real stepping stone, but it is still a really good album. :)

Speaking of which, I wonder why Tipton and Downing don't get more recognition. I mean, some of the stuff they do is amazing.

maggot4875 04-18-2005 09:14 PM

i like there new song that came out,its called revolution or something like that

Cue the dual lead from Ram It Down.

Deth 04-19-2005 07:40 AM

Cue the intro to Metal Meltdown.

Cue any song not on British Steel thinking about it.

Cue the awesome riffage in Leather Rebel. ;)

Off of Angel Of Retribution, yes, it's a good song. Have you heard any of the earlier stuff?

Deth 04-19-2005 06:51 PM

I think Revolution is one of the weaker songs off the album. Why isn't Judas Rising a single?

Dread_rocker 04-20-2005 01:22 PM
I think Revolution is one of the weaker songs off the album. Why isn't Judas Rising a single?
Yeah! Its ****ing great song!

Riva 04-21-2005 12:08 AM

Judas Priest is one of the stronger songs on the album yes...

So, favourite intros to any song?

For guitar: Leather Rebel

For vocals/guitar: Ram It Down

For drums/guitar: Painkiller

What about you guys?

Rrrrrrr 04-21-2005 12:25 AM

Vocals only: All Guns Blazing
Guitar: The Hellion/Electric Eye (harmonising), Leather Rebel(riffage), Metal Meltdown(solo)
Drums: Painkiller by far.
Other: Night Crawler(I just love the way it leads in to the main riff)

Here's another question: What are your favourite slow Priest leads?
For me, Glenn Tipton's solo in Beyond the Realms of Death, and all the leads in Rock Hard Ride Free.

Riva 04-21-2005 12:39 AM

Beyond The Realms of Death is great... and I like Angel, Blood Red Skies and United equally.

Possibly something to do with the record company?
