anything by poison, guitar world had an article on this not too long ago
How dare you! |
jerky kirky
What continues to puzzle me, someone told me that Joe Satriani taught Steve Vai, Slash and Kirk Hammett. People are bagging the **** out of Metallicas solos (and kirk play them) and yet Joe gave one of his prized guitars to the best student and the best student was Kirk. Ah well, I wish I was around when Kirk got that guitar because he musta sounded better then than now. Maybe Joe was heaps drunk that night and since kirk and slash have similar hair, he probably got blurred vision and passed the guitar to Kirk instead of Slash. And Slash has never once disappointed me. He owns all.
dude, do you have no taste in music whatsoever:lol:?
kurt cobain could not play the guitar to save his life.
Dont mean to say it isnt a great solo |
Totally unrelated to my post earlier ^^ The worst solo is Milk It by Nirvana... all Kurt does is go up and down the frets or it sounds like that
|
Fred HAHAHA
Okay I could not even do worse blindfolded and drunk. He was like tryin to count the frets to find a lick to play. MY GOD He should just stick to trying to die or make really bad videos so we can laugh at him more. Also the song he was singing while playing "NEVERMIND NEVERMIND" thats what he said and then went into a little metal thrashing stuff man that sucks then HE STOPS COME ON. I atleast if I do that at my bands practice or a gig I now some riffs to play and do the stuff for more than a minute.

whoever bumped this should burn in hell for all eternity..along with ibanezevh7891 for that utter **** post.
|
Most Slayer, It is good playing but has no feeling or melody. The only feeling in it is 'Ow my ears.' I love Slayer but their solos annoy me.
|
well if busted ever dared to break the mould and attemped a solo im sure their's would be up there
|
Good Charlotte- The anthem. 1 string, like 2 notes per second and it doesn't even sound good.
|
There's A solo in a Mcfly song and its laughable. Room on the third floor. methinks.
|
anything by nirvana
|
Every Nirvana ****ing Solo!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Good Charlotte- The anthem. 1 string, like 2 notes per second and it doesn't even sound good.
Hahaha, I agree. |
Smells like teen spirit...A monkey could play that solo
|
Pulse of the Maggots...horrible, if you can call it a solo.
slipknot sucks, but ****! |
Slayer solo formula:
Kerry King: whammy bar abuse, followed by light shredding Jeff Hanneman: scales, fast scales, and more scales Unless there are some awesome exceptions to this rule. Please tell me, because I think these guys have talent every once in a while. |
hehe, whoever it was that mentioned Neil Young - Rocking In The Free World, i sadly must agree. I love Neil Young's songwriting skills, but let's face it, the man should not try to solo. Even if it isn't meant to be a proper solo, it just doesn't fit properly.
Same goes for all those people who keep bagging out Nirvana. I personally think their music is repetetive and atonal, but that's not to say it's not conveying emotion. Kurt was by no means a great guitar player, and yet for some unknown reason will always be hailed as one. His solo's weren't solo's in the traditional sense, if anything they were anti-solo's, rebelling against the times where every popular song had a set structure. Point being made is, a solo is not meant to be a wizardry display of talent, but an emotive breakaway from the rest of the song. While Rocking In The Free World's solo didn't set any standards, it had a mournful piercing shrill about it. So yes, that's my story.... |
Everyone needs to shut the F*** up about Tom Morello. His name does not even BELONG in this post. Think about it: he's gotten guitarist of the year at least 3 times. He started at around the same time as Tool, and formed Rage Against the Machine, a band that, even though they have since broken up, revolutionized the rock genre. The solos he chooses to construct for his songs fit with the flow of the song. Morello knows how to make his guitar pierce right into the soul, and he can pry out the deepest of emotions. His work with Audioslave only cements that theory, in that he can work around the amazing voice talent of Chris Cornell, and play solos that invoke sadness and loneliness, rather than his style with Rage, which was basically fight music.
Tom Morello is one of the best guitarists out there, and he could shred any of you f***ers in half if he wanted to. He chooses to use effects and different guitar techniques, and i choose to faithfully listen to them. As far as the worst goes, i wouldn't know, because i don't listen to bands that suck. If i hear a song that sucks, i either tune it out or turn it off before it gets to the solo. you people need to stop bashing professional guitarists, get a life, and learn to play yourselves. jealous f***s. get off your duff and prove me wrong if you think i am. make sure that if you're good enough to bash a professional musician, you're good enough and motivated enough to back it up.
Worst argument ever. You should know that music is a matter of taste. Just because someone gets guitarist of the year 3 times doesnt mean that person's music will please to everyone. So in other words, you need to shut the fuck up. If someone thinks he sucks, then that is his or her opinion and you are an idiot for trying to change that. Also, aren't the guitarists of Sum41 and Good charlotte also considered "proffesional guitarists"? We all know how the rest goes. Anyway... I dont have any opinion on him(Tom Morello) because i havent heard any of his music. I for one think that Nirvana has some good solos, whether they are original or complicated or not. They still sound good, and i think thats what matters. Anyway, can someone give me some of Tom Morello's best guitar solos? so i can go.."get" them? kthxbai |
hmm well you may say that "hit the lights" and "ride the lightning" solos suck...but just think...those were when metallica just started...you can't expect their initial stuff to be THAT good can you...
I hope you're joking... |
well if busted ever dared to break the mould and attemped a solo im sure their's would be up there
lol very much agreed! |
sum 41 solos are pretty much the same as metallica solos. Yet they manage to mess it up
|
The Sultans of Swing solo is absolute Shiite, as are most Metallica solos I find.
Zakk Wylde or however it's spelt generally fails to impress too. |
The solo in The thing that should not be of Metallica's Master of Puppets, it's not the worst, but it's a very weak solo that has a over use of the whammy bar randomally through out the whole section. Nothing special compaired to the other tracks on the album.
I love that solo. Its so much more atonal and cool sounding then any of the other solos on the album, which sound far more predictable and classical. IF you think about it, the solo in The Thing That Should Not Be fits the song perfectly. You guitarists should realize that often solos you dont like are just played to fit the overal mood of the song. |
I wouldn't have guessed you'd like that song in every way....
Hmm some early Caracss solos are just noise. |
Hmm some early Caracss solos are just noise.
True and so are some of the riffing and vox on the early Grindcore efforts.
You guitarists should realize that often solos you dont like are just played to fit the overal mood of the song.
Ohhhh now I get it, silly me all these years.....I thought it was an excuse to sound crap over songs I like by trying not to fit in with the tune. |
...2 words
Radar Love |
Any song in which Kurt Cobain tried to solo sucked...Krisiun is a good band, but their solos get annoying as well.
