Everygrey aren't Power Metal. They more Prog. Good band though.
|
Me neither, since I got Infinite.
really? Infinate is my favourite Staratovarius album lol. well, along with "elements pt.1" and "visions" is close behind. |
Everygrey aren't Power Metal. They more Prog. Good band though.
bad live show though, they put the whole crowd to sleep during their tour with Iced Earth and Children of Bodom (who owned the night i may add!!). |
Infinite is a good strato album, if a little *over* cheesey. Elements I, episode and maybe visions are better IMO
EDIT: Hunting high and low, celestial dream and the title track are awesome. Just felt I had to say that |
Listen to 'Black Diamond' by Stratovarius off the album Infinite. It rocks.
Black diamond is off visions |

I like their song themes. |
what the fück is power metal? is it goth or what?

Blind Guardian: I've never experienced such a thing before (at least not at this rage). BG have gradually grown in me. After the first listen (of SFB) I was like "nah...ok" and after a few days out of nowhere a song came to my mind and subconciously I started whispering the chorus and later certain parts of other songs!
Then of course I gave a second chance to the album, and a third and a fourth and a 104th! The same thing happened with the rest of BG albums. They are all so addictive although I dont get excited at first! I cant help having a BG melody in mind every day! Anyone experience the same thing? currently playing (in my head of course!): "Guardian Guardian Guardian of the Blind" Btw, anyone got the new BG DVD? |

I bought it on pretty much that recommendation, that it was one of their best, if not the best. Hunting High and Low was okay, but the rest of the album didn't appeal to me at all. It's weird though, because I know I like their basic style (I love Sonata Arctica, after all). |
Everygrey is progressive power metal hahahahahahahah i win. But no they do rock. The Great Deciever is awesome
|
IMO:
Evergrey = power with some prog influence Symphony x = prog with some power influence |

I am strongly looking forward to the DVD and a new album whenever they get around to it. |

Yes, it's mosdef goth y0. |
The BG DVD is out at least here in europe. I just got it although some essential songs were missing from the show.
EDIT: Or in fact they are not missing but Hansi spoke in german only and they cut them instead of putting on subtitles, I think. |

Are their any Demons and Wizards fans in hear. Their probably my favorite power Metal band of all time my band is covering Heavens Denied from them.
|
^
Well not a huge fan but I think their album was excellent power metal. I'm looking forward to their next one. The song you're covering is my second favourite. My first favourite is Blood On My Hands. |
Blood On My hands is an awesome song. But i'm not sure if their will be another one. Jon seems pretty busy with Iced Earth and who knows what Hansi is up to with Blind Guardian. They were planning to make music together since the early 1990's and it took them awhile to make a band. But theisr always hope, i prefer D&W to Iced Earth and Blind Guardian anyways.
|
^
Both Iced Earth and Blind Guardian are major groups so it's normal for the guys to be busy. In an interview I read (from last january) Hansi said that there will be a second album but it will come very later :(. |
Well atleast their will be a second. And maybe they'll even visit Calgary.Maybe some more shred solos in the next one.
|
Heaven Denies is such an awesome song.

Bump..
Ouch, this thread hasn't been touched in a week. This is bad. Oh well. During the week, i've been listening to a few particular albums, one being Ambermoon - Facing The Storm - Trad/Power from Italy - and they are really something! There is a big maiden influence, with more of a power metal feel. Epic, melodic, competent and **** interesting metal! I urge you all to check them out, Ambermoon, excellent stuff, you'll love them. :D |
Italy is producing some great Metal at the moment.
|
Galloglass has released this week a sample from their new album!!! Check it out. It's very different from their first album.

y0 y0 y0. I just went to teh mall today to get some cds at FYE. I picked up Blind Guardian - "And Then There Was Silence", and Gamma Ray - "No World Order".
So anyone else get any power metal cds recently> |
Well, I just ordered one from an online store. Whether he'll have it in stock or not is debatable.
|
just the new BG DVD
|
[QUOTE Blind Guardian are a great power metal band but A Night At The Opera does not really do them justice.
I think you should have a listen to Blind Guardian Live or Tokyo Tales. Trust me the live albums amazing and some of the songs such as Lord of The Rings are completely different to the studio version. |
