I have Cosmo's Factory, Green River, and Willy and the Poor Boys. I need Bayou Country next.
Same with me.

I don't know how I'd rank them though.

Green River = Cosmo's Factory > Willy & The Poor Boys.
Is it just me, or does Fogerty say "heard" weird in that song?
He says heard wierd in every song.

Illmatic 06-28-2005 01:13 PM

He says many things weird.

PROUD MARY KEEP IN BOININ'

robo2448 06-28-2005 01:19 PM

He's got a great voice though.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 06-28-2005 01:23 PM

It's not a great voice it's just the perfect voice for the type of music he was playing. (IMO)
It's not a great voice it's just the perfect voice for the type of music he was playing. (IMO)
Yea that's a better way of putting it. It's how I feel about Dylan's voice as well.
i do. mostly jazz fusion though. the instrumentation is excellent in all of it and the songs themselves are great too. mahavishnu orchestra is probably at the top of the heap for me.

have you guys heard of the mahavishnu project? theyre a mahavishnu orchestra cover band and they are almost as good. they add their own little twists to the songs as well.

/reply to old post because i dont really listen to ccr
Yeah. Eggo left some Mahavhisnu Project stuff to download a while back. It's very good. I prefer the "real thing," but there is no denying the fantastic talent they have. (It's always interesting to hear someone else's interpretion of a work.) Personally, they made You Know, You Know too loud and... busy, if you get me. The original is so quiet.

I definitely like Cosmo's more than Green River, but I agree that they're both better than Willy & The Poor Boys.

That's a really good album. The remaster I bought had 10 bonus tracks and 13 normal tracks. I think they went a little overboard.

That's the one I have.

LBC 06-28-2005 02:57 PM

I recently bought CCR greatest hits, and i am very pleased. good old rock n roll. Does anyone listen to supertramp? They are a great band IMO. check them out.
Classic rock kicks ***... though it pisses me off that most classic rock fans are close minded to new music as well. Why not listen to both?
i think the radio is to blame for this. In the days of classic rock, the radio played mostly good music, making it easy to appreciate all aspects of the music, however nowadays the radio IMO is at an all time low. It rarely plays music worth listening to and when it does it plays it every ten minutes. This constant repetition subconciously causes us to dislike the music. People still listen to both, but its harder to find good music, thats where MX comes in...

Scyma, there's a problem with your Roy Harper link in the Folk thread.

I like to think my musical taste covers both spectrums equally.

np: George Harrison - My Sweet Lord

Well can't do anything about it now. (wrong computer) I'll fix it tomorrow though.

I only have my dad's copy of their greatest hits. I'd like to get more CCR.

John Fogerty's voice is a little funny sounding sometimes, though.

Woodstock 06-28-2005 03:40 PM

I just got Marquee Moon from Pink Freud. It's already a fantastic album, and I'm only 4 tracks in.

Supertramps one of my favourites. Crime of the Century is probably one of my favourite albums as well, Breakfast in America also gets the job done. They are a great band.

I think my favourite CCR album is Bayou Country, or Green River...I like them all just about equally actually.

Cover band of Pink Floyd? I never really understood the point of buying cover band albums.

are you talking to woodstock? because if so, he meant me.

Alessandro 06-28-2005 03:45 PM

So is anyone here into King Crimson? I just got to know the band a few days ago, it definetily kicks a-ss, IŽve been downloading some of their songs, but I think IŽll buy an album as soon as possible.

I got that album a while ago from one of the YSI threads. I listened to like the first 5 songs the night I downloaded it like a month ago but haven't listened to any of it since. I should put that on, since I enjoyed what I heard.
Cover band of Pink Floyd? I never really understood the point of buying cover band albums.
So true. Especially a Pink Floyd cover band.

I can understand an AC/DC or Kiss cover band, but Pink Floyd are too brilliant and too original to be mimicked.

Wow, slow day......

jpj 06-28-2005 06:01 PM

So. . . I'm downloading Sticky Fingers right now. I hope it's better than Exile because that album disappointed me.
