Did anybody listen to Ballad of Easy Rider? :(

Franklin's Tower is one of my favorites off of Blues For Allah.
I'm listeneing to the John Mayall album right now, it's pretty cool so far. I'm also downloading Little Feat and the Traffic one.

Krabsworth 10-19-2005 03:07 PM

Ahhh I've got the album Wired, by Jeff Beck going right now, and man, it's awesome.
Ahhh I've got the album Wired, by Jeff Beck going right now, and man, it's awesome.
I've got that on vinyl, although I've only listened to it a few times. I'm not a big Jeff Beck fan...I actually prefer Beck to Jeff Beck, not that the two are anything alike.

BigTrav415 10-19-2005 03:19 PM

Well, I just got back from my class trip to a camp in the mountains of Virginia. Easily the most memorable moment was when we we were heading back to the camp after we had gone up on a mountain to chill and rock-hop (there were 4 other guys there that were playing guitar and smoking pot; the chaperones looked really uncomfortable  ) and all the girls started singing some gay Spice Girls song; really, really loud. I mean loud enough to hurt my ears. Obviously there was no way to stop them, so all the guys were trying to ignore it without success. So of course the only thing to do was, of course, sing even louder, and one of the counselors started singing Yellow Submarine, and everyone joined in. Me and him were the only ones who knew the verse, but when we got to the chorus everyone joined in. It was great

magicbus 10-19-2005 03:39 PM

Check out all these sweet concerts I missed because I wasn't born yet :upset: They were all in Michigan.

The Great Decay 10-19-2005 03:49 PM

Could anyone suggest to me some Folk artists in the vein of Bob Dylan and Simon & Garfunkel?

The Great Decay 10-19-2005 03:57 PM

I already listen to, and thoroughly enjoy, both Iron & Wine and Nick Drake. But there are a number of bands/artists theres I have to check out. Thanks.

TheDMV 10-19-2005 04:30 PM

Nick Drake is one of my favorite bed time listens. He's a underrated guitarist as well; intricate finger pickings, strange tunings, mastery of the capo, and unique compisitions all add up to one hell of a guitar player.

I remember saying something like that, everybody got mad. :(

magicbus 10-19-2005 04:48 PM

I'm not mad, I used to be in the same situation. I only suggest you give him another shot at some point in time.

In other new, John Mayall's The Turning Point is an awesome album. Like, I just listened to it all the way through, and I was really diggin the whole thing. This is one of my cd's to buy now.

I'm just gonna say that I'm listening to the same song as you. I downloaded it but I do have it on viynl.

Glitterati 10-19-2005 05:19 PM

If you like Simon & Garfunkel, I have a suggestion for you. One of my current favorite bands is called Belle & Sebastian. They're a Scottish indie folk band, very much like Simon & Garfunkel.

Broken Arrow 10-19-2005 05:22 PM

I have one of thee albums.

DeusExMachina 10-19-2005 05:59 PM

If you want a band like Simon and Garfunkel, check out the Kings of Convenience, from Norway (I think, Slug would know for sure). They're ridiculously awesome.

JPJ, I think it was you who recommended Hot Tuna to me, can you upload their 1970 album? It's the s/t I think. I downloaded one and a lot of the songs were skipping.

Alright no problem. If I find it I'm going to upload it for everyone, because it's a really cool album.

EDIT: Wait, is it this one? That's the one I'm looking for.

JonG 10-19-2005 06:53 PM

I have it but I'm missing a few tracks, I'll try to find them.

Walrus Gumboot 10-19-2005 06:54 PM

I don't really have anything to add to this thread. Jon is an uploading machine, thanks for all those albums, I've listened to a few songs from most of them, great stuff.

Thanks for the rep lunch.

The Band is cool. Acadian Driftwood is one of the greatest songs ever. That's what I've learned today.

Edit- Thanks for the Marley Freud. Haven't listened to it yet, but it just finished downloading, so I'm putting it on now.

Now I know why you were complaing about not having enough space on your mp3 player. That's alot of music

This Who Collection is pretty incredible, all together it has 35 songs

JonG 10-19-2005 07:13 PM

I'll try to get Barrett and Arzachel up sometime. YSI is being a bitch.

yeah, the ultimate collection is excellent as far as greatest hits go. the essential collections are great as well.

and yes, my ipod only holds less than half of my music. and my portable hard drive is running out of space.

stupid free music.

JonG 10-19-2005 07:19 PM

I can't wait till I get my 40gig.

;P

robo2448 10-19-2005 07:19 PM

I always see The Who Ultimate Collection at Sam Goodey for like 12.99. Which is shocking because most regular cds there are like 19.99 and the Who album is a double album. I don't have it though, because I have almost all the other songs on other Who cds and the songs that aren't on cds I own, like Eminence Front, I downloaded.

Anyone have anything by The Fairpoint Convention or It's A Beautiful Day? I've heard there both unknown '60s pyschadelic folk bands. I've never heard anything by them but they sound interesting.

I don't have it on PC though.

Where do you find all of this sweet music?

Oh could you please download a Porcupine Tree album? I'm still waiting to hear more of their music. Maybe perhaps Signify? You don't have to upload it anytime soon...but remember for next time you are bored.

PinkFreud 10-19-2005 07:41 PM

do you have any of their stuff?

jpj 10-19-2005 07:43 PM

I like some Porcupine Tree everyonce in awhile, but they seem to be really hit and miss for me. The first track on Voyage 34: The Complete Trip is a masterpiece, but the rest never really grabbed my attention. That album also has a cool concept, it's about a guy who goes on 33 acid trips, then on the 34th he has a bad trip and he goes crazy (or something along those lines).

DeusExMachina 10-19-2005 08:00 PM

Does anyone have any Phish live albums that they want to upload? I'm really getting into them, and I'm told that the live stuff is incredible.
