Fuck Download.

Wacken is where it's at.

timmySmi 02-23-2006 07:34 AM

I don't no if someones posted this already but this is for people that don't know. Kerrang magazine have announced in celeberation of 20 years since Master Of Puppets was released they are asking bands to cover a track of the album and make a dedication CD to it. Machine Head have already confirmed on there website that they will be covering Battery. Can't wait to hear this I don't think they could have chose a better band to cover battery than machine head I wonder which other bands they'll ask because they plan on doing everytrack off the album.:)

Kerrang are doing it?
Please god no, they're gonna fuck this one up so badly. Machine Head's okay. I can imagine Trivium doing Master of Puppets and BFMV doing a song. I'm expecting My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy to murder some classics.

ownyouall 02-23-2006 10:29 AM

the killers, my chemical romance, p.o.d all good bands

Not in my opinion. Any one of those would be a terrible choice to cover Metallica.

PepsiMetal 02-23-2006 11:57 AM

SoaD played download last year. Would be nice if they covered a song or two. :p

Jev 02-23-2006 12:09 PM

Hmm yeah they wouldn't be too bad.
When we saw SoaD it was pretty funny. We were knackered after 4 days of camping and we just stood in the crowd dancing.

timmySmi 02-23-2006 12:17 PM

I could definetly see Trivium doing sanitarium.:smoke:

How much did it cost you to import a Sadowsky from the U.S? What model did you get, I would love to see and hear if u have any soundclips/photos.

I have a vintage 5 String (21 frets) in a black pearl finish with hard rocking la bella strings. I requested a price and made a deal at about £2500 the shiping was about £50 - £100. Ever since I got this bass I ain't touched my Musicman Stingray or my Fender Presicion basses. I don't have a webcam or mic yet but due to lots of people requesting to hear and see it iam going to make arrangements to get a microphone and webcam this weekend. I can quite honestly say Iam never going to need to buy another bass again Iam an exculsive Sadowsky player!

BLS_Infernus 02-23-2006 03:20 PM

I think I would like to see Slayer, Trivium, Motorhead, Arch Enemy, CoB and CoC do some covers for that

Spiritofmosa 02-24-2006 07:39 AM

i recently downloaded black album.. its the first metallica album i've heard. so what other albums do your recommend.. i'm looking for something more melodic? if there is..

Apocalyptic Raids 02-24-2006 07:47 AM

Just get Master Of Puppets and ...And Justice For All.

Huber 02-24-2006 09:04 AM

Especially ...And Justice For All for a melodic sound.

I'd like to see that too but let's face it, most of those won't cover.

BLS_Infernus 02-24-2006 03:53 PM

Motorhead, CoC, Trivium and maybe Arch Enemy and Slayer would do it. I doubt Cob would

...And Justice For All is a must buy album

Agreed on both parts :thumb:

Father_Jack 02-24-2006 04:06 PM

I'd love to see motorhead do some covers. I have them doing a studio cover of Whiplash, and its pretty darn good.

BLS_Infernus 02-24-2006 04:08 PM

I'm surprised that Lemmy can play that fast on bass. I'll have to finally buy a tribute album to here that now.

PepsiMetal 02-24-2006 04:11 PM

Motorhead also covered Enter Sandman on some metallica tribute album. I do have that song though and it's pretty good.

Jev 02-24-2006 04:32 PM

Yes, but Kerrang! won't ask Motorhead, Coc and Arch Enemy. Maybe Slayer and definately Trivium. Trivium cover MOP at concerts so I can see them doing that.

Thor 02-24-2006 04:35 PM

Has anyone heard about Mastodon's cover of Orion? Apparently they just recorded it for a new tribute album and I'm incredibly excited about hearing it. I bet they'll do it justice.

Jev 02-24-2006 04:36 PM

Ah, so it looks like Mastodon are on the Kerrang! CD then. I need to hear it to see if it's better than Dream Theater's cover of Orion.

BLS_Infernus 02-24-2006 04:47 PM

I heard 'tallica was coming out with a video game.

I don't know if Mastodon can beat Dream Theater's cover of Orion sense it didn't have much of James (DT) on it  but I bet it will be interesting to hear. Mastodon is a pretty good band with a different take on music that I like.

Jev 02-24-2006 05:01 PM

The videogame was cancelled I think. It was meant to be out last year but cost too much or something.

Neoteric 02-24-2006 05:04 PM

That album bores me :(
That album bores me :(
AJFA is the only metallica album, that I enjoy any songs from.

I take it you aren't a fan of great melody then
