I'll up it to the mailing list, in case we ever get another.

Witch Hats

I reckon a lot of you guys would dig this band. They're a bit like the Birthday Party I guess.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-29-2008 04:47 AM

David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust..
Pharoahe Monch - Desire

only got around the the monch album now (about a year late), it's good. not as brilliant as I expected but it seems like it could be a grower.

sweboy 03-29-2008 06:06 AM

Sieg Heiling:

James Blackshaw - The Cloud of Unknowing
The Blithe Sons - Arm of the Starfish

Anxious 03-29-2008 10:38 AM

The Jesus Lizard
Drive Like Jehu

Neoteric 03-29-2008 11:24 AM

Ghastly City Sleep
Gregor Samsa

They go well together.

perriwinkle 03-29-2008 07:28 PM

i'm listening to Mr. Nogatco - Nogatco Rd.

notice that that is Dr. Octagon backwards.

i didn't even know this existed until just recently. it's from like a year after Octagonecologyst, and it's already pretty far ahead in terms of production value. some really good stuff on here but it kind of whizzed by me on first listen. i also got Black Elvis - Lost In Space or Kool Keith - Black Elvis: Lost in Space, however. that's gonna start playing in about six minutes once this epic closer on Nogatco Rd. is done. apparently, this is going to have Sole and Sage Francis in it. sweet ***. this is dope as hell, his glitched beat and vocals fit him so well. yo check out this song im gonna put it on mediafire for you guys

edit: actually nvm i dont really feel lik eit

Blonde Redhead - 23, picked up the album the other day, so pretty.

I really really like that album, it sounds so... big.

perriwinkle 03-29-2008 07:41 PM

woahhh Black Elvis - Lost In Space is ****in ttiiight as ****, way better than Nogatco Rd.

Eliminator 03-29-2008 08:25 PM

nogatco rd kind of sucks

glorified spoken word

perriwinkle 03-29-2008 08:31 PM

yea i agree its not that great, i'll keep it aroudn for a while though and listen to it some

the track i liked best on first listen was the closer, except for the Sage Francis verse

i finally caved in and downloaded some Cows. i'm getting Cunning Stunts because AMG says its their best album. first song i got was Walks Alone and that song was reeal good. i wanna hear their early noisier stuff

Anxious 03-29-2008 09:10 PM

Does anyone else think "Bullet Train to Vegas" should be the opener to Yank Crime?

I thought it was, once. But apparently its just some extra song that wasn't even on the original version of the album.

Against Miik! 03-29-2008 10:21 PM

I've been really into a handful of bands which I think be vaguely put into the same category of alternative, those being:

Kaddisfly
The Fall of Troy
Fair To Midland (only a bit)
Portugal. The Man
The Mars Volta

Anything else that sounds like those?

Eliminator 03-29-2008 10:23 PM

try taking a dump on a puppy

Happymeal 03-29-2008 10:34 PM

M83 - Saturdays = Youth

Part eh, part every other artist jumping on the 80's new wave revival bandwagon which works for them for the most part. There's some really good highlights here though so if you're a fan it's still worth your while. I'm just glad they're ditching the post-rock

Eliminator 03-29-2008 10:36 PM

i tried downloading it once but the link was dead and didnt really care that much to look anywhere else
cover is kind of a turnoff too tbh but like that one album

negrodamus 03-29-2008 10:40 PM

**** buttons

hercules & love affair

Blood Brothers
Coheed and Cambria (music is completely different but VOCALS)
Saosin
Circa Survive

A Dead Modernist 03-29-2008 11:34 PM

{{{Sunset}}} - Bright Blue Dream

Gets a little weak in the middle, but the beginning and end are really good.

O yeah thanks. I forgot to include Circa Survive in that list. I like Coheed too, not so much Saosin post Anthony Green. But you reminded me to pick up some Blood Brothers.

oh and you should check out this band

http://www.last.fm/music/Fatal+Flying+Guilloteens

i know i already said (in a thread i dedicated to them) that theyre a mix of older sounds like The Jesus Lizard, Fugazi and Unwound, but that was just on a first impression basis. after a few more listens i realize they also sound a lot like some of today's bands. Fall of Troy, Blood Brothers, etc... they dont have high-pitched male vocals but some female background vox instead. and the similarities to TFOT are really more in the music than the singing anyway.

Everything up there is fucking horrible.

Against Miik! 03-30-2008 12:17 AM

Yeah I do feel really out of place here because I listen to some bands that more than 6 people have heard of.

Anxious 03-30-2008 12:19 AM

Damn right you do.

Against Miik! 03-30-2008 12:20 AM

I certainly hope nobody here actually takes that into consideration when listening to a band.

I could get into them. Where could I find some of there albums?

Eliminator 03-30-2008 12:26 AM

if i happened to be the 7th fan of a band, i would have to kill myself.

luckily that hasn't occured yet
