That's really it. If it hurts, you're doing it wrong. Stop. Find a way to do it so it doesn't hurt.

I don't know how to falsetto or warm up...I sing in a monotone which is why I figure screaming is maybe better to learn :p

I enjoy using them. :p

For a falsetto, just make a high pitched note an octave above your normal range. It's like...you know that song "She's so HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHHH...high above me"

Well, when he goes "HIGHHHHHH" that's his falsetto. Yours doesn't have to be that high if your voice is deep, but try that.

To warm up, I sing a lot, pronounce all my vowels a lot (AEIOU AEIOU AEIOU) over and over, do a few inhales. I do that for like 5 minutes until my voice is warmed up. Then, I do a deep-ish gut scream to get some of the mucus out of my throat, then a high pitched scream to get more mucus out, spit out said mucus, and then I'm good to go.

Scream from your gut, not your vocal chords; you'll blow them in no time.
