whether or not that's true is irrelevant. dude said pete rock was obscure and that pete rock & cl smooth were 'alternative' or 'underground'.

pete rock is awesome, but i think that album definitely falls under the "conscious hip hop" movement, which im pretty sure is what he meant

pretty sure that album had a lot to do with ushering in the sampling of soul and jazz into the mainstream and pretty sure that without it people like kanye would be out of a job.

Went to see these guys about 2 months ago at SDSU but the show sold out right as my friends and I got up to the ticket window after standing in line for like half an hour. Was super bummed.
