Well if they didn't have Kirk and he stayed in Exodus then who would be the lead guitarist? That there is the question of the millenium

DaveTheAmazing 2.0 02-19-2006 05:51 AM

Why is Ride The Lightning considered to be great? That album is crap

Stoo 02-19-2006 06:51 AM

Why do you think that?

DaveTheAmazing 2.0 02-19-2006 07:12 AM

Hmm where to start.. Ah, I'll start with track 1, FFWF. The acoustic bit at the start just doesn't belong in the song. It does absolutely nothing for it. It doesn't belong on the album at all. The song as a whole is basically 2, maybe 3 ideas, which aren't that great anyway.

The song RTL. The intro riff, the first time I heard it, made me think "this is gunna be an awesome song", but I was wrong. The singing, to me, sounds off. The solo, IMO, doesn't really fit the song. The song as a whole just doesn't sound solid to me.

For Whom The Bell tolls is OK. I got bored of it quite a long time ago, but yeah, its alright. Needs a solo though.

Fade to Black is the only really good song, imo, on the album.

I'm sure a lot of Metallica fans would agree with me when I say TUI and Escape are poor songs. Both are just lousy songs.

Creeping Death is OK, gets boring and repetetive after the "die, die, die" bit though.

The Call of Ktulu is my least favourite Metallica instrumental. It drags on and there really isn't anything great about it.

I also think the production of the album isn't good at all.

With MOP, you can listen to Master of Puppets and Battery, and think "Hey, these belong on an album together." You can listen to The Frayed Ends of Sanity and Harvestor of Sorrow and think "Hey, these belong on an album together." You can do it with Damage, Inc, and Sanitarium, Blackened and Eye of the Beholder, etc etc etc

But when I see Fight Fire with Fire and Fade to Black on an album together, I think "Hmm, these don't sound like part of the same album." I can't pair any two songs from RTL and see that they belong on the same album. RTL's songs lack that quality. Maybe it's just me, but still.

I just don't get how the fans of Metallica see RTL as a brilliant album. It really isn't. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

It's a brilliant album. I think it's better than MOP. Every song on it (minus Trapped Under Ice and Escape) is a Metallica classic.

Better than MOP? Are you kidding? Every song on MOP is a masterpiece. Orion mops the floor with The Call of Ktulu. Battery can kick FFWF's *** any day. Mop>Rtl. F2B is the ONLY song on RTL that stands a chance against anything on MOP. Get with the times, old man

Jev 02-19-2006 07:26 AM

Yes, I prefer it to MOP, that's my opinion.

DaveTheAmazing 2.0 02-19-2006 07:29 AM

Ronnie>anything on RTL

Stormrider 02-19-2006 08:24 AM

RTL and MoP are both very good albums. But right now, I think I rather MoP. It changes though.

NP - Opeth - Forest of October

Apocalyptic Raids 02-19-2006 08:35 AM

MOP > RTL for sure.

Stoo 02-19-2006 08:40 AM

I don't have RTL, but I think I would like it the sam as MOP. 4-5 songs on each album that I like.

Father_Jack 02-19-2006 10:31 AM

Creeping Death > Damage Inc (even though I love both songs)

And I still think Call of Ktulu is better than Orion.

Creeping Death is the best song off of RTL IMO. And one of my favorite Metallica song in general.

I don't knwo which one I rather between Call of Ktutlu and Orion. I'de have to listen to both again...

No way no no no

pep 02-19-2006 10:40 AM

Call of Ktulu > Orion any day of the week.

Father_Jack 02-19-2006 10:42 AM

The way that Ktulu sounds all creepy is just pure greatness. The solo is also one of Kirks better solos. And the S&M version rocks hard.

DaveTheAmazing 2.0 02-19-2006 10:49 AM

fook me all within the hands is so kcik my aas
fook me all within the hands is so kcik my aas
It's meh, never really got into that song too much.

BLS_Infernus 02-19-2006 11:08 AM

I'ld take Ktulu over Orion but MoP over RTL. In my opinion AJFA slays them all.

Really?

I'm not a fan of the production of ....AJFA really. And some of the songs I just can't get into much. Like Dyers Eve and Shortest Straw. And some of the stuff is a little drawn out, like [shock/horror] the blackened solo [/shock/horror] and the title track.

Dyer's Eve is one of the greatest tallica songs of all times

BLS_Infernus 02-19-2006 11:23 AM

AJFA is Metallica by themselves though.

Songs like Harvester of Sorrow, One, Eye of the Beholder, Dyer'ss Eve, Blackened, Shortest Straw, To Live is to Die and The Frayed Ends of Sanity (or the whole album) is what really got me into being a huge Metallica whore.

The_Ownage 02-19-2006 11:37 AM

My friend says ...AJFA is their best album, but I really don't see where he's coming from with that. There's like... no bass at all, and the production's kinda iffy, like someone said. Personally, I prefer RtL and MoP over it, but it's still better than their recent stuff.

Stormrider 02-19-2006 12:21 PM

AJFA is probably my favorite 'Tallica album. I've heard miniaml stuff after the black album, and I prefer James's vocals on AJFA.

E_man 02-19-2006 01:52 PM

Kill 'Em All is pretty good, but I have to say AJFA hasn't got a chance against either MOP or RTL. I prefer MOP honestly even though RTL is a really good album, and I actually reallt like Escape, good song...

Jev 02-19-2006 04:20 PM

I'd take KEA over AJFA. I just can't stand the production on AJFA.

Aw3someman 02-19-2006 04:28 PM

U must be kidding. KEA is soo generic. Even the better songs don't stand out too much. AJFA has an epic feel to it. It just feels awesome. I used to love it more than the others but now i would say RtL is the best b/c of its rawer yet refined feel.

Jev 02-19-2006 04:32 PM

AJFA doesn't appeal to me. Some songs are better than the whole KEA album (eg. To Live Is To Die) But I'd rather listen to KEA.

PepsiMetal 02-19-2006 04:39 PM

Yea, I'd also take KEA over AJFA anyday. Well maybe except To live is to die, but I like KEA way better than all other tracks on AJFA.

NP: Hit the lights. Ahh

Bazarov 02-19-2006 06:11 PM

I love ...AJFA, but as of lately RTL has started become my favorite Metallica CD.
