Can anyone give me a link to a CGI proxy real quick?

lynch_me 03-21-2005 08:20 PM

There should be a ska forum rather than a hardcore forum.

guns_of_brixton 03-21-2005 08:26 PM

No, I don't like going out of my way to talk about teh ska.

Brain Toad 03-21-2005 08:42 PM

I'm listening to Cds now since I'm working on my music on my computer. I popped in my recently found FFFRV (it had been lost for a while) and boy it's such an amazing album.

I'm in favor of a Ska & Reggae forum, but not really as a sub-forum, I think it'd be better as it's own. Pop-punk should've orginally been a subforum I think.

El_Shiznit 03-21-2005 08:45 PM
Quick, now is your chance to take over the Hardcore Forum. Post as many ska threads in there as you can until people believe it is a ska forum.

Someone said this to nowhereman, but he didnt do it becuase he doesn't have your priveledges
That was my plan!

Forest_Fire 03-21-2005 08:48 PM

Oh. You were credited anonymously as "someone"

RouteOne 03-21-2005 08:59 PM

Flogging Molly are awesome. Drunken lullibies is my favorite.

honkybrewster 03-21-2005 10:53 PM

That's the only song of theirs that I even like.

El_Shiznit 03-21-2005 10:55 PM

All of Flogging Molly's material is good. I think I'm using their song for a school presentation Thursday if all goes well.

When you have to write about power-pop, it will take you to the unknown..........
LIKE BLINK 182's WEBSITE!!!!!!!!!! OH THE HORROR!!!!!

IFlogMyMolly16 03-21-2005 10:58 PM

......Blink 182 may be crap, but they are not power-pop.

El_Shiznit 03-21-2005 11:00 PM

Our group has to have this ho-down thing in our presentation, so I'm going to put the banjo, drums, and accordian part of 'Tobacco Island' as background music.

I just realized I had this pop-punk education thing done. Time to post.

honkybrewster 03-21-2005 11:00 PM

OMG shizzy, don't you realize the mention of pop-punk is morally wrong?!

El_Shiznit 03-21-2005 11:02 PM

Oh really? What do you think they are then?

Here is a pretty good def'n of power pop:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power-pop

As much as I hesitate to use punk in a description of Blink's music, I would probably just call them a more-mainstream incarnation of pop-punk.

Paul93560 03-21-2005 11:13 PM

Where Can I Get Some Paint To Touch Up My Metal Flake Teal Flying V????
What Kind Of Paint Do U Use To Touch It Up?

Well that definition actually backed up my theory even more. The characteristics mentioned were just like Blink 182's music.

Blink 182's power-pop check list:
Prominent guitar riffs - check
Solos kept to a minimum - check
Lyrics about love - check
Vocal Harmonies - check
etc etc

Plus, they said Fountains of Wayne is power pop. And Fountains of Wayne and Blink 182 sound pretty similar to me. Plus, there is no way that Blink 182 is punk in any way, shape, or form.

DrGolovaCroxby 03-21-2005 11:17 PM

That's right, all words are equal dam'nit! No more of this only capitalizing "important" words! :p

The whole pop-punk/power pop thing may never be solved. But maybe once I post this thread, people can look to me and ask if a band is pop-punk or not. Then I make a decision and everyone believes me. Just like DFelon or BuddyBigsby. Then I will be tr00 elite.

DrGolovaCroxby 03-21-2005 11:21 PM

who cares what genre blink 182 is anyway, they suck madd balls.

If you are still listening to punk in 5 years, I will be glad to take your word for it at that point.
