I don't like scene kids too much. Luckily there aren't any at my school. The people in my school don't even listen to scene bands. They just listen to pop.

I think it'd be better if they at least were into bands like the Bled and (new) Underoath. At least I can enjoy those bands, unlike the hip-hop garbage that's on the radio, and enjoyed by 95% of the idiots at my school.
I usually hate hip-hop, but I have a thing for Eminem and Kanye. I dunno why. I have the girls in my school that love FOB and MCR, and think they are all number one fans, but then when I ask them what their favorite song off of I Brought You My Bullets or Take This To Your Grave they give me the blankest face ever. -sigh-

I just play my music loudly and proudly. It was cool at the record store the other day though, I was listening to my iPod and one of the employees asked what I was listening to and I told him Bridge to Solace, and he didn't know who it was, so I told him next time I was in Id bring him a burnde copy

 There may be more people like that in my school now that those bands have hit MTV. I'll have to wait and see when I go back. I don't want to many kids like that floating around either though.

Sometimes I don't get it. I go to shows with bands that no one in my school has ever heard of, and yet I see hundreds of people at each show, but no one from my school. You'd think somebody I know would be into the same music that I am.

Vince: Ha, nice. I should start handing out mix CDs at my school to see if I can get some people into better music. That'd be awesome.

Understanding In a Crash 09-01-2005 10:59 PM

The guy from Death Cab For Cutie is like the best modern day singer I've ever :upset:

cbmartinez 09-01-2005 10:59 PM

You know what album I'm psyched for?

HYPNOTIZE

The Crowing 09-01-2005 11:00 PM

Alright guys, I'm gonna get going. I have to go work at my lovely job at McDonald's tomorrow. It sucks being 17, I always have to do fries. Anyway, sleep awaits me. Cya.

You'd think so, but it's just so rare :-\

Not as much in my school of 44k people...but I don't know em all either :p

You should do that, it's worth a try. Luckily the record store guys like good music. I've even asked them for recommendations before. They're metalheads :D

 Is that a band, or an album, or what?

Dan: Death Cab for Cutie is a pretty cool band.

It's not supposed to be as good as Mezmerize...based on what people say about leaks they have...

Night Jon2

cbmartinez 09-01-2005 11:05 PM

It will still be awesome.

Mute Print 09-01-2005 11:06 PM

Now that I know what we're talking about, it should be pretty cool. Even though I'm not into that kind of music much anymore, SOAD is always good for a listen.

Eh, I thought Mezmerize was their worst release yet.

Understanding In a Crash 09-01-2005 11:10 PM

I wonder if anyone goes to gigs naked?

TheBeatlesarecoming 09-01-2005 11:10 PM

SOAD got me through 8th grade.

The potential for immense pain is off the charts.

Why?

Mute Print 09-01-2005 11:14 PM

Mezmerize wasn't bad. I liked it.

Toxicity was great as well. I wasn't real big on Steal This Album though.

Understanding In a Crash 09-01-2005 11:15 PM

The Recieving End of Sirens sound alot like CIRCA SURVIVE!

TheBeatlesarecoming 09-01-2005 11:16 PM

I wonder how they got so mainstream, there not your typical "popular" band

Eh, it was a collection of rarities...I liked it better than Mezmerize though. I actually like a lot of STA, only a few weak tracks imo.

Anything can be popular with proper marketing.

Eh, I'd have to listen to it again. I downloaded it a while back I think, but I deleted it. For some reason I remember not being into it. Maybe I'll give it a second chance.

cbmartinez 09-01-2005 11:21 PM
Why?
It showed maturity and the songs were so much more varied then anything they've done. The harmonies were breathtaking and the songs were so much more than average nu metal. I absolutely love Toxicity but Mesmerize took it's place.

cbmartinez 09-01-2005 11:22 PM

Steal This Album! showed that SOAD wanted to become the band they were on Mesmerize, but didn't want to completely abandon nu metal.

TheBeatlesarecoming 09-01-2005 11:23 PM
Anything can be popular with proper marketing.
Yea I guess your right, but with SOAD down do you think it was marketing, or popularity on there own merit?

Mute Print 09-01-2005 11:23 PM

Okay, I'm downloading Steal This Album! now. Hopefully I'll like it more this time around.

I'm getting Staind - Chapter V too. I'm seeing them with 3 Doors Down on Sat., so I want to hear their new album.
