Do you know how much Bob influenced 'Tallica? Besides, Rubin > Rock.

Rick Rubin doesn't make bad records.

Jev 02-17-2006 08:34 AM
Somewhere i heard that you have to pay some sorta tax for the BBC? is that true?

I loved JJ's drumming...it just made Tallica sound so much more...Fresh
Yes, we have to pay TV licensing because the BBC won't show adverts.

The new bassists Rob Trujillo. he's been there for nearly 3 years now.
Why did you refer straight to his solo career? was i right about Mustaine writing 3/4 of what Friedman did?

please imagine what Mustaines solo career would of been like(eg hanger18 guitar battle)

and it would of got much better then that
Mustaine does have a solo career and it's called Megadeth. Friedman is a far better guitarist then Mustaine is theory/tech. wise

Jev 02-17-2006 01:29 PM

Didn't Friedman write the solos he played or were they improved or wrote for him?

vashts80 02-17-2006 01:34 PM

Most of the solos Friedman played were his own as far as I know.

I hope to see Master of Puppets-esque material out of Rubin's production job, otherwise Rick Rubin is a failure. :D

DieterWeber 02-17-2006 01:42 PM

First thing rick needs to do is get a voice trainer for James, I'm sure he can bring his voice back

Jev 02-17-2006 01:48 PM

Or better yet, get some voice effects on Hetfield's voice. Make him sound like a robot.

Something along the lines of RTL or MoP would be very cool.

Im sure there will be some kick ass solos on this record.

Jev 02-17-2006 01:54 PM

For the love of God no more wah please!

GenuineImitation 02-17-2006 01:56 PM
For the love of God no more wah please!
I dont mind the wah that much, but Kirk really should move away from it.

BLS_Infernus 02-17-2006 02:13 PM

Kirk isn't into how he did solos in the past so maybe we will have less wah. It couldn't really care either way because they are pretty good with or without the wah

timmySmi 02-17-2006 02:28 PM

Can't believe Rick Rubin's producing Metallica's new album! Judging by his track record with other bands i.e Slayer,RHCP,Audioslave he has not made a bad album. I got my download ticket and I've heard they are going to play some of there new stuff which is good. I thought after Jason's departure and the release of Saint Anger there was no coming back. But just maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel.:chug:

BLS_Infernus 02-17-2006 03:36 PM

Is Jason still with Voivod or is he doing something else now? I think he was only with Echobrain for one album and they broke up and he went away from the Ozzy thing.

I'm hoping this next one kicks so much *** though. Rick should put Metallica in the right direction.

Oh...maybe they will release temptation on the new one!!!!!!!

=-fukifiknow-= 02-17-2006 03:58 PM

if Rick can bring back metallica to Pre Black Album, he'd be the most respected producer ever.

BLS_Infernus 02-17-2006 03:59 PM

Metallica wou;dn't want that those. James has said that he hopes they change their sound on every album as not to create the same thing over and over again.

Britton 02-17-2006 04:26 PM

That's one heck of a list

THose pictures of him with Tallica are funny

I'm Charming 02-17-2006 04:27 PM

It'll be interesting to see if Metallica comes back with something decent.

Then again it can't get much worse then St Anger... I guess you have to hit rock bottom before you can rise again.

I'll check out the new album with an open mind and see what I think when it's leaked/ontorrentnetworks.

I don't have high hopes though.

burtonbassist_102 02-17-2006 04:36 PM

i believe that the next new album will be good.... with rob contributing, it should be cool

EDIT: w00t post 7.00 x10^2

6stringslinger 02-17-2006 04:39 PM

i dont think the album will be out this year

PepsiMetal 02-17-2006 04:45 PM

I don't think producers will matter much. I mean if they don't want to make thrash and sound like in early 80s, nobody's gonna change that.

I would like to hear Bob Rock's opinion on their decision to go with Rick though. :)

Also I liked St. Anger, so it's not a guanratee for me that the new album will be better.

Normally when you don't have high hopes you can enjoy it more because you weren't expecting it to be amazing

Hourglass 02-17-2006 04:47 PM

What do you think they'll be playing when they tour?

Their music....

I think Rick will do a good job. I'm a fan of St. Anger...so I'll be happy if it's along those lines
