Yeah, I really can't stand the intro either, but I still like the song. I have yet to find a Dredg song I dislike, actually.

I like their old stuff alot more for some reason, like Orph and such. It's so refreshing to listen to and has lots of depth.

Illmatic 10-01-2005 11:48 PM

well MX, I am back from the dead.

Practically literally.

I spent most of the week throwing up, sleeping, or being in class (amazingly), and then spent like the last two days in the hospital. But here I am.

Indeed...

Real Men drink pure Vodka, or better...navy rum.
I think because of the way sputnik works, it will never truly be a reliable source of reviews and information. Because it's completely volunteer and open to anyone, we have 100 people who only review albums they like. Consequently, we have 100's of reviews which are all 4-5 star ratings. Nothing is balanced, it's all dominated by people who only go to what they like. The only way to really make the site reliable is to have a desginated team of reviewers that covers all genres instead of making it open to anyone. But since that will obviously never happen, we can only urge people to balance things out and hope that users start to do things more professionally.
Yeah, I'm guilty of this; but it's only because I have a look to see what reviews I can do and I notice that alot of classic albums (to the more extreme genres only though, because that's the only rock/metal I really listen to) that haven't already been reviewed. So when I end up reviewing things I give them good reviews because I really think they deserve it. Out of the 11 reviews I've done, only 2 are under 4 stars but I still stick by my opinions.

I remember when I first started drinking I drunk straight vodka (because it was cheap). I've built up a decent resistance to the taste so I can drink it straight, I'd just rather not.

Plain folk or folk metal?

I think this approach is natural. These volunteers review albums they bought or downloaded themselves after some research, so it's most likely to like them very much. They're not magazine reviewers to receive random free promos they might not like and write negative reviews about them.

Still nothing is flawless, so it would be a good idea for these reviewers to be a bit less excited and more objective and try to see things from the position of a reader who's not familiar at all with a band.

What I dont understand is why would someone write a positive review about an admittedly classic album. There's really no point in it.

At the end of the day, a drink is supposed to be a pleasant thing. Unless your entire family was just killed by marauding dingoes and you want to drown your sorrows as swiftly as possible, or you're a student, there's really no justification for drinking cheap vodka straight.

It's like all the pressure on a martini to be dry. There's no point drinking a cocktail that hurts, so if you're new to martinis, chuck in plenty of vermouth.

What about impressing girls by how manly you are?

That's a justification there...

Bartender 10-02-2005 04:37 AM

I'd say that's covered by the "being a student" caveat :)

I got my Ipod Mini yesterday.
It holds 6gb.

But does anyone know how I can delete songs off it? I'm on ITunes now, and I have my Ipod playlist there. Yet as I try and delete stuff off it it won't let me. Anyone know how I can delete stuff off it?

NP: The Beastie Boys - Sure Shot.

(.)

Bartender 10-02-2005 06:11 AM

Maybe you have to delete things from it just using the iPod itself, away from the computer.

I can see you online, and other people. Appears to me for all the world as if I'm signed in.

IAJP 10-02-2005 06:13 AM

I got it I think.

There's a playlist, "Most Played, Recently Added, Top 25 Songs" etc. I think I have to delete the songs from there.

Arrakakaka 10-02-2005 06:15 AM

Disconnect your iPod first, then delete the songs on your computer. Then re-plug your iPod back in.

So, I'm wondering, how many albums released this year (preferably not counting reissues or late, different country releases) have you all bought?

I ask because I usually seem to end up buying albums that have been released in any year but the current one - more often than not, from several years before at least - and this year I've made a vague effort to actually buy more than two or three newly released albums. And I don't feel I'm doing well. Here's my list;

Jesu - Jesu
Miocene - A Perfect Life With a View of the Swamp
Twin Zero - Monolith
General Patton vs the X-Ecutioners
Beck - Guero
Fantomas - Suspended Animation
Miasma and the Carousel of Headless Horses - Perils
Infidel? / Castro! - Bioentropic Damage Fractal
DJ Spooky vs Dave Lombardo - Drums of Death
Sufjan Stevens - Illinois

How about the rest of you?

Stoic 10-02-2005 07:31 AM

I really want to focus onto new releases as well. Most of the albums I buy are 00s releases. Here are the 2005 releases I own:

Communic - Conspiracy in Mind
Criterion - The Dominant
Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor
Nile - Annihilation of the Wicked
Origin - Echoes of Decimation
Slough Feg - Atavism

superpeer 10-02-2005 07:35 AM

None. :\

I have a CD-R of Lullabies to Paralyse, that's it. I hardly ever go out and buy new albums, they're usually expensive. I mainly buy older albums.
