The whole album is amazing.

agree

Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
Algernon Cadwallader - Some Kind of Cadwallader

I'm finally starting to warm up to Neon Bible. I used to not be able to stand it, even though it was really good.

Moss Icon - Lyburnum (Wit's End Liberation Fly)

I wasn't really impressed with this when I first listened to it a while ago, but subsequent listenings have made it awesome

Bukowski 03-25-2008 03:14 PM

man i love Moss Icon. Even more than Rites of Spring probably.

digggging:

The Durutti Column - The Return of the Durutti Column
Fire Engines - Lubricate Your Living Room

really enjoying these just now, esp Durutti Column. Had heard them both a while back but they kinda passed me by, didn't get into them much back then. Loving them now though, Durutti Column is some amazing dreamy guitarwork, and Fire Engines are a pretty good (Scottish!) post punk band...more experimental than Josef K/Orange Juice were, but great in their own right.

Cat Stevens - Mona Bone Jakon

Yah it's pretty new, late 2007. It's pure California sunshine, with guitars.

seamantis 03-25-2008 03:19 PM

That bit about Moss Icon being better than RoS is blasphemey.

But I love those other two records. You should definitley get Lips That Would Kiss by the Durutti Column. Its up there with Cocteau Twin's Treasure in terms of dreamy atmosphere.

yeah I plan to get some more Durutti Column now, definitely.

Slowdive - Pygmalion

This is one of my favourite albums now...very different from Souvlaki, it's so haunting and chilling, full of subtle effects and strange walls of vocal echos. I love the way they use strummed acoustic guitars with the weird droning noises in the background, it's like a more accessible version of Flying Saucer Attack. Sigur Ros were probably heavily influenced by this.

Eliminator 03-25-2008 04:19 PM

idk ivebeen listeing to grind all day
I think one of your new favorite bands should be The Fall, YDload.
they have too many albums i dont know where to begin

Bukowski 03-25-2008 04:25 PM

I began with Hex Enduction Hour, and it's still my favourite.

A Dead Modernist 03-25-2008 04:37 PM

Jacob and i - Shadeout mapes

I would say Grotesque or Perverted by Language.

Time 03-25-2008 05:17 PM

Meat Puppets - II

The stretch from track 3-6 is ridiculously good. I used to not really like Plateau, but it's grown on me. The guitar solo at the end is one of the best things ever.

edit: also digging Sonic Youth - EVOL. The first time I listened to Tom Violence I was half asleep, having a dream and coming down from a high, yet somehow I could still hear the music. The song played out like the soundtrack to this weird dream I was having that was like a violent surrealist film, it was really strange but awesome. That's what I imagine whenever I hear that song now and it's pretty cool.

pixiesfanyo 03-25-2008 06:30 PM

Pusher - Pusher

**** yes, ex-Breather Resist ****.

Liebensaft 03-25-2008 06:42 PM

Cap'n Jazz.......I neglected this band for too long. Analphabetology is killer.

samariah 03-25-2008 06:43 PM

i need to check that out tbh

officially digging Two Nuns and a Pack Mule

Liebensaft 03-25-2008 07:07 PM

It reminds me of a little American Football, a little Latterman (I think it's just when he's yelling, I don't really know why I make the association), and another band I can't put my finger on. I don't know exactly, but it's good.

pixiesfanyo 03-25-2008 07:23 PM

they don't really sound like American Football.

they sound like a midwest emo band.
