Seen as though no one answered my previous question I'll just post it again?

Does anyone own Sabian AAX Stage cymbals? I just looking into getting some for christmas (well with my student loan)?

Thanks.
I own the AAX stage hats and an AAX stage crash. Excellent cymbals. Great vesatile and cutting cymbals.

Cocaberry 11-20-2006 11:26 PM

I own the AAX Stage hats and the 20" Stage ride. Both are brilliant finish.

The Stage ride is pretty washy. You might want to look into something heavier if you need good ping. It works great for crashing and crashriding though.

Stage hats are awesome. Great sound open, half-open, and closed. Very versatile.

Hey thanks :)

Dave*Grohl 11-22-2006 04:03 PM

I have a 18" aax stage crash. It's nice but can't beat my meat..I mean can't beat my 17" A custom

Static 11-22-2006 05:41 PM

Opinions on 16" Sig Full Crash?

yama_stage_advantage 11-23-2006 07:54 PM

so im interested in the paragon ride at my local store and i have a few questions

can it be used for diferent kinds of music?is it loud?

Static 11-23-2006 11:02 PM

Extremely versatile, very loud too. A lot of (good) ping. A great ride, easily my second ride.

HeLLmO 11-23-2006 11:12 PM

it's not the washiest ride though, so if you want a fair amout of wash, you may wanna look elsewhere

Static 11-23-2006 11:56 PM

stfu nub.

Drum Phil 11-24-2006 02:56 PM

Im looking for a second ride.

I want it to contrast with an 20" Avedis Platinum rock ride.

Just to give you a quick example of what ive been looking at:

22" HH Rock ride
21" Paiste sig dark full ride
18 + 20" Paiste trad light flat ride

Im at your mercy MX.

yama_stage_advantage 11-24-2006 02:57 PM

21HH raw bell dry ride?

Drum Phil 11-24-2006 02:59 PM

Its a bit too dry to contrast with my other ride.

Static 11-24-2006 06:15 PM

....20" K Ride.....

Tim 11-24-2006 07:11 PM

AA heavy ride? in trad. or medium heavy in trad.

Drum Phil 11-25-2006 01:31 PM

The heavy ride is pretty much identical to my Avedis.

Im rather tempted by the 20" Artisan medium though.

Static 11-25-2006 02:36 PM

Oh, the Vault Artisans are beautiful cymbals. I prefer the 22"? better, though.

Kayne815 11-25-2006 05:02 PM

looking at some new hats

hey im looking for some new main hats. i'd like something with a nice chick, a nice sorta sizzle if ud like to call it that(a nice closed sound), and a nice open sound. pretty much a very versatile pair of hats that can be played at any volume. i was looking at something like AA regular hats and AAX stage hats, or vault hats. if anyone has experience id like to hear ur views on them. im not trying to close myself down to those two, anything from zildjian as well would be great. thanks.

oliv_da_skinmasher 11-25-2006 05:43 PM

AA sizzle hats. They rule, i use em for everything.

spirit 11-25-2006 05:47 PM

New Beats would be good from the Zildjian camp, but I understand that the AA and AAX Stage are also very versatile.

Vaults are more like A Customs, so if you like the Vaults, check out those.

crackpot_theory 11-25-2006 07:23 PM

Alright, what is everyone's opinion on the Sabian AAX dark crash cymbals? I'm considering purchasing one but don't know very much about them.

Cocaberry 11-25-2006 08:04 PM

AAX Stage Hats are awesome.

Drum Phil 11-25-2006 08:18 PM

OK ive decided i want a flat ride for the left side.

Gimme your favourites.

ludvista29 11-25-2006 08:54 PM

Emmm...

Istanbul, Bosphorus, that kind of malarky.

Static 11-25-2006 10:33 PM

Stage hats are beautiful, extremely versatile, as are the Vaults. Fishbulb has Vaults, and tons of people have stage hats (Coca).

Inkstar 11-25-2006 10:33 PM

Yo, I think I'm getting a new cymbal off my mate, who's got an HH or HHX (he doesn't know, because the markings have been taken off) but he does know it's a Sabian HH or HHX 16" crash. I can either get it for $80AU, or probably for free if I give him my xbox and games (which I never use). Deal? Methinksso.

He says it projects insanely good, very loud.

Oh, and he also says it's very thick. Any ideas what it could be?

Plan B. 11-25-2006 10:53 PM

I'd put money on HHX if it's got da projectione!

Kayne815 11-25-2006 11:57 PM
AAX Stage Hats are awesome.
so Coca, (i know this may be a biased opinion) but how much do u like the stage hats? are they good for rock genres? and u think they're worth the money?

I LOVE the Stage Hats. I play rock and they sound great wide open. Awesome sound half-open and closed too. Closed with some shoulder is great. Closed using the tip is great too, really nice and articulate.

Only thing about the Stage Hats that I can do without is the fact that the sound can get "tinny" if they're opened too wide. Maybe it's because they're so bright and all bright hats might do that but just for that reason, I try not to open them past a certain point. Still, that point is a little further than what is necessary for most situations anyway.

I don't really like the AA Regular Hats. The Stage Hats are the AAX equivalent of the AA Regular hats. In my opinion, the AA Regulars are just too bland. The Stages have more "life" to them.

There are numerous people on these boards who are very satisfied with their Stage Hats. Honestly, I can't really think of anyone here who has the AA Regular hats and/or actually likes them.

As for the Vaults, I'd say the AA Regulars are better than the Vaults. I really don't care for the Vaults that much. They have this "cheap" sound to them, as if they're more towards beginner cymbals than professional cymbals. AA regulars, while being a bit bland, still sound professional.

You really should try these out for yourself again. Put them side by side and listen to each one. Try all the possibilities, wide open, half-open, closed with shoulder, closed with tip, hi-hat chicks, splashes, etc... You're the one who's gonna have to listen to them daily and it's really important to get what you like the best.

Static 11-26-2006 12:41 AM

Try the Paragons.

And that crash is definitely an HH. HHs tend to be much thicker, while HHXs tend to be very thin.

eisle89 11-26-2006 01:53 AM

I was led to the Stage Hats by the members on this thread and I really appreciate it. You will not go wrong buying these hats.

Ok thanks Coca for all the info. This is actually really sweet because the only music store in town that sells decent hats has the AAX stage hats on sale i think, plus they've got god knows how many pairs. I tried them out a while ago and compared them to the vaults (the Vaults were blown outta the water). But i could try out all of the possiblilities because they had this weird clutch that u could only change how far the hats were opened with a drum key (which i was without), so this week im gonna go in with a key for another go and try all the possibilities.

thanks a lot man.

Static 11-27-2006 10:24 PM

Crash, preferably 17". Brand doesn't matter. Not bright, but not dark, but leaning more towards dark. Medium decay, medium thin/thin, but not paper thin.

HeLLmO 11-27-2006 10:25 PM

K Medium Thin Dark Crash

drummguy731 11-27-2006 10:26 PM

hmm, K Custom Hybrid is a really excellent crash in that size, it fits the description perfectly

spirit 11-28-2006 04:20 PM

K Custom Dark Crash

Perfect. I know, I have it.

krazydrummer121 11-28-2006 11:15 PM

AAX Stage Pack...

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Sabian-AAX-Stage-Performance-Pack-with-Cymbal-Bag?sku=440136

I have the hats and the ride and they're awesome. You might want a pingier ride though if you play metal. The Stage Ride is pretty washy.

drummguy731 11-29-2006 05:15 PM

A custom pack
