I'm curius :) What do you study at your college/university??? I'm thinking of appling for music courses next year.. just need piano lessons first though :(

xxxwookie 09-01-2004 05:31 AM

Man, I'm in the wars at the moment. Coming out of the beer cellar last night, I stood up too fast and smacked my head off the ceiling (People in the bar heard it!), leaning down to pick something up, I bashed my head off the corner of the till shelf, walking down the stairs at home I slipped because the carpet has been taken up and the place is a little dusty and my foot went straight into one of the uprights on the bannister and I've bruised 3 of my toes and the killer, this morning I was making breakfast and I've burned my finger which is preventing me from playing * waits for the next incident*

ooh, frost bite from the ice packs!

On the university conversation, I go back on the 25th for my 3rd year, although I'd much like to go back sooner. An ex-student has prepared a small presentation for the 14th which I'd like to go to, but I can't get in touch with accomodation services to open up my accomadation early so I have to miss that and miss out on a lot of potential lab time which I need because my 1 year project needs to be done before xmas... Stress bucket! I study Biology and criminology dual honours

... no i don't want to go into forensics and criminology/biology doesn't give me any insight into forensics (although I've learned some techniques such as PCR and southern blotting DNA tests in Biology). Just to clear that up, everybody asks

Prospects... I would like to do a masters and a Phd focusing onparasitology. My project this year in biology is focussed on mosquito immune responses to malaria. It's all good fun

I'm off to Uni soon too - B.Eng in Sound Engineering at Glamorgan. It's part studio work and such, part electronics and so on. I'm going to apply to switch to the M.Eng if it goes well.

Only had this confirmed yesterday and I'm going in a few weeks!

xxxwookie 09-01-2004 06:00 AM

Good luck dude :thumb: Do you want to install my pickups for me?! :D

Wintermute 09-01-2004 06:03 AM

In 3-5 years time, yes. :)

Jim Hull 09-01-2004 06:09 AM

If I need any help with electronics I coming to you wintermute!

I am studying BSc Computer Games Science - just like computer science but chucks out java programming and databases and replaces them with c++ and 3D graphics.

Wintermute 09-01-2004 06:34 AM

Hey, once I actually know what I'm doing I'll be more than happy to help out.

For a fee... :)

Wintermute 09-01-2004 06:44 AM

Hmm. Just downloaded Yahoo Messenger. It demands a zip code of me, and won't accept my postal code.

Someone post a valid zip code so that I can lie to it and get on.

school system in america
preschool( daycare with little education)(not required)
kindergarten( prepares kids to be taught first grade stuff)( you learn colors, spelling and numbers)
first through six grade school( learn reading writing math science and history
7-8 more of the same but more advanced( sometimes called middle school or junior high)
9-12 high school( lockers, prety girls, crap food as always oh and I think your supposed to learn something too. numbers can vary in groupings as well

then college the cullmination of our education yay.

TigerArmy 09-01-2004 08:54 AM

Foxfire 09-01-2004 11:45 AM

Foxfire 09-01-2004 12:42 PM

Wow. I just had someone say that Jazz is easier than Rock.

Flaming time.

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 09-01-2004 01:16 PM

Sometimes people need to sleep. especialy the people who stay up late. :)

Foxfire 09-01-2004 01:17 PM

You? ;)

Foxfire 09-01-2004 01:39 PM

So I just flamed someone on a forum...This is what I got (this was he response to me saying that Blink-182 is pop punk, which followed him saying "Blink 182 is more talented than Led Zepplin and is rock"):

"dear ted, FUC K YOU!

maybe your right, maybe your wrong, i dont really care, because i dont really know that much about music, and i dont play guitar or any other instrument, i dont even really like blink 182 that much, all i do kknow is that i like green day, i dont fuc king care what fuc king category their in, they're fuc king good and thats all what needs to be said about them.

ted, you act like you know everything about music, but i have to give you the facts- your just an 8th grader with nothing better to do then bag on peoples opinions. you know slightly more about music than i do and i know almost nothing about music- way to go ted, now you can feel good about yourself. wow, you play guitar, therefore your the primary authority on music. YEAH RIGHT DIPSHI T, FUC K YOU! music is all you have in your little pathetic life so stating my opinions must have really offended you. or i just offended your little nerd friend who needs a jackass to stick up for him, i really dont care. The point is I like green day and i think they ROCK there isnt a **** thing in the world you can do about it. as for blink 182, and any other band that you dont like, they are all better musicians and cooler than you.

ps you suck"

I laughed really hard.

Thoughts, comments? I ended up not responding because it wasn't worth my time. I also got called a music Nazi for saying that:

1. Jazz and Classical are harder to play (in most cases) than rock.
2. Blink 182 and Green Day are Pop-punk, not rock.
3. Blink 182 is not more talented than Led Zepplin; Delonge and Hoppus suck (but that's a given :p)
4. He shouldn't comment on how difficult different bands' music is if he hasn't played it

I'm all for not categorizing bands, but people like to switch between categorizing and not categorizing.

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 09-01-2004 01:41 PM

No i never sleep. NEVER

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 09-01-2004 01:44 PM

In terms of bass, alot of classical orchestra upright is simple.... and alot of jazz bass stuff is simple walking lines, then there are the many exceptions, just like in rock. Bass is what you make of it, reguarless of the genre.

Foxfire 09-01-2004 01:46 PM

I wasn't talking bass. :p

nisakss 09-01-2004 01:53 PM

^^In what form was that??

Foxfire 09-01-2004 01:54 PM

A friend's forum.

I forgive them because they're young and ignorant.

nisakss 09-01-2004 02:00 PM

SO what are your current projects, at the moment I'm trying to figure out the solo of Coffee Shop, that's one cool solo, really aggressive. What are you up to?

Foxfire 09-01-2004 02:01 PM

Well, a bunch of things.

First, I'm trying out for Concert band, and I've decided to do a Medley. Can't decide how I want the transition to go...

I'm also trying to learn Stuart Hamm's "Sexually Active", Victor Wooten's Transcription of "Overjoyed," and Victor Wooten's Transcription of Amazing Grace.

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 09-01-2004 02:05 PM

Hah finaly i got one on you fox, I learned amazing grace last month. :p :upset:

currently im working on practicing tapping bits. some slapping, not learning any covers though. i actualy mostly working on improv 12 bar blues... with slap... :amaze:

nisakss 09-01-2004 02:15 PM

Cool, you all seem to work on some really hard stuff, guess I'm a lazy person.

Besides playing bass, I'm trying to stay sexually active... .... :upset:

What I really want to learn is this version I saw him play in a video. It's all groovy as hell.

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 09-01-2004 02:33 PM

I learned the live version, at least i think it was, the one off the power tab, it was totaly better and more complete then the one on MX tabs. anyway it was close to what he played to when i say him with the flektones.
