It is a solid record. It is a lot slower than their previous albums. RZA seems to be trying to do more epic, brooding stuff rather than the under produced raw stuff he is known for. It definitely is better than the W though.

Rams 11-25-2007 03:25 PM

This is really bad after first listen.

pulseczar 11-25-2007 03:36 PM

I think the biggest problem is that RZA subdues the percussion itself too much, and that seems to throw off the rapping, a lot of the Wu just sounds bored most of the time, though that can also be attributed to them just not aging as well as others. It does get better as it progresses, though, I can see it being a grower.

pixiesfanyo 11-25-2007 03:58 PM

The production is the best part of the album.

kyle6677 11-25-2007 04:38 PM

i agree, its a lot more laid back. the production was ok, some tracks stood out, others didnt. its not bad, i just had my hopes too high. we'll see if i like it more after more listens

sgrevs 11-25-2007 05:08 PM

No Ghostface leaks yet? His albums have been far more consistent than Wu albums, methinks this album will continue the trend.

Tyler 11-25-2007 06:04 PM

8 Diagrams is okay so far. Seems a little confused, seems like it's walking between raw and refined and can't figure out where to go.

I'm only like 4 songs in though.

How does "The Heart Gently Weeps F/ Erykah Badu, Dhani Harrison and John Frusciante" manage to be both great and awful at the same time. Hm.

Apocalyptic Raids 11-25-2007 06:39 PM

I like what RZA is trying to do with the production but it just doesn't suit alot of the clan members. Like on The Heart Gently Weeps, Ghostface sounds good but the beat just doesn't work with Raekwon and Method Man at all.

Amit 11-25-2007 06:40 PM

hint: it's frusciante's fault

what a shitty guitar tone

Tyler 11-25-2007 10:45 PM

Sunlight was terrible, wow. I only made it like 40 seconds in.

mattox 11-25-2007 11:58 PM

Servants In Heaven, Kings In Hell.

It's perfect.

ATM 11-28-2007 06:50 PM

Nobody commented on my video. :upset:

Also, this board is really into JMT. I can't stomach much of that kind of rap.

AA-12 11-28-2007 06:51 PM

JMT got me away from metal. I listen to them way too much, haha.

What kind of rap do you mean?

ATM 11-28-2007 06:57 PM

Well, Jedi Mind Tricks rap about the same **** in every song. It just gets tiresome. It's the same reason I can't listen to stuff like Demigodz anymore.

AA-12 11-28-2007 06:57 PM

Vinnie Paz is just an angry as hell dude, hahaha. I can understand where you're coming from.

ATM 11-28-2007 07:00 PM

Don't get me wrong, I used to love JMT. From them, I got into stuff like Swollen Members who are in the same vein.

Lunch 11-28-2007 07:10 PM

JMT do get pretty old pretty quick

AA-12 11-28-2007 07:11 PM

I listen to about 10-15 songs a day and never really get bored. If i'm listening to Violent by Design I will though.

Ghostfire3 11-28-2007 07:34 PM

Yeah, I know what you mean but their shit is still ill.

ATM 11-28-2007 07:35 PM

Josh, get Balance By Swollen Members and [i[The Godz Must Be Crazy by the Demigodz.

You'll like it.

40 oz 2 freedom 11-28-2007 09:30 PM

Don't know if it was mentioned in here, but Saul William's new ...Niggy Tardust is pretty rad

sgrevs 11-28-2007 10:45 PM

I've heard bits of it, you can really hear the Reznor influence. Only heard three songs, but Williams was very angry, as usual, and it had quite a punky feel for most of it. Was pretty good though.

Danger Bird 11-28-2007 10:58 PM

What's ODB's best solo album?
