I'm ripping on religious people because they have terrible logic and act like they have all the answers. Why are you christian instead of muslim? I bet the reason is because your parents raised you christian. You're probably the same denomination as they are too. What makes christianity any more credible than any other religion? Why don't you believe that dogs can fly through outer space? there's just as much evidence.
dogs can fly through outer space though.... |

I'm not christian in belief, I am culturally. I am culturally because I am part of a christian culture. It isn't any more credible, I'm saying that this almighty "credibility" you always hark back to isn't actually tangible or important I can deduce that dogs can't fly through space because of the biological limitations that they share with us. And I can use this logic because I realize that there is something transcendental about logic that can't be explained with logic. |

hey did you know that lots of science relies on infinity did you know that you can't have empirical evidence for infinity oh fuck well then lets just throw it out some of it is an understatement prove to me that 1 comes before 2 and that 6 comes after 5 you do it with induction then you have to prove induction well you do it because numbers are well ordered and you can predict what will come after another number oh well then you have to prove that with induction and around and around you go that is the basis of all science, and the foundation of science is circular.
one coming before two is common sense. one is just a concept for what we already know. if you see one rock to your right and two on the left you know that there are more on the left side. the numbers are just used to refer to what we already know. one coming before two is no where near the leap of faith that believing there is an omnipotent deity who created everyone and established all these ethical guidelines and that there is a vast history of the heavens and earth that no one can prove |

Why should you, or do you care if it doesn't affect you, which I assume it doesn't. Do you work at an abortion clinic and find yourself subjected to ridicule ? |

abd tell me why 2 + 2 = 4

BY DEFINITION
z @sam I'm culturally christian in that I celebrate Easter and the other holidays, and that's about it. Being culturally christian doesn't entail much. and no I believe in God but not the God of Abraham that comes in and fucks with shit all the time. people believe in god because it makes them feel good, that's good enough for most peope |

I don't go around starting arguments with people about this in real life. It just stuns me how gullible some people are to believe this shit. It amazes me that in this day and age people still believe in fairy tales from thousands of years ago. |
why the fuck would that "stun" you
are you new to earth or are you being insincere |
@ hsg
maths, bro |

see previous posts
so whats your conclusion to this whole discussion? that there are no absolute truths? cool bro, totally didn't know that already |

Well no of course you don't and I wouldn't expect you to, and it does amaze me too that people still believe in religion in western society. I was a lot more arrogant and lot less understanding and would freely call anyone with faith a moron, until I encountered my best friend at uni who's pretty much my intellectual superior and is a devout Christian. Through her I met a fair few devout Christians who weren't bumbling red necks. She found god after her dad died and it made things better for her and her family, and I couldn't really argue against her. |

see previous posts oh hey sam god doesn't exist I have proof eh
to clarify I am not a militant atheist, i'm an agnostic leaning strongly towards atheism. I don't think that god DEFINITELY doesn't exist, but since I have seen nothing to support the idea that it is real, my educated guess would be that it's not. someone asserting that something is true has the burden of proof. there is no reason to assume something is true because you can't prove it isn't. educated guess means you have evidence
you're just making a guess ok but the thing is that it has been established that god's existence can't be proved or disproved so there is no burden of proof. |
@ hsg
maths, bro
which you probably suck at, by the way fucking retard come hang out in pnwi for a few days |
we all have our own perspectives
mine, as you all know involves business concepts - psychographics. If someone is religious I can stereotype that they have certain attitudes, interests, and opinions which relate to their religious doctrines and the same can be said with non-religious. Pretty much the people that I talk to and like are all non-religious |
stereotyping
strong argument choose one
if i believe in spider-man and the green goblin and they are my equivalent of god and satan is that not stupid?
this is an oversimplification of the situation. the person who created spiderman is still alive and doesn't claim they are equivalent to god and satan the people who wrote the various holy books around the world aren't alive and have claimed that the books were given to them from god in some way |
im really catholic guys

This discussion has really been done to death on the internet, can't believe it's reared it's ugly head again.
