I'm uploading an amazing cover of Purple Haze. It should be done in a minute.
|
I will after this album finishes. Oh and "You Ain't Going Nowhere" by the Byrds would be a close 2nd.
|
SRV - Little Wing is great too. Don't know if I like it more than Hendrix' version.. It certainly is longer.
Also, Johnny Cash' version of Hurt was so much better than the original, and Joe Cockers "With A Little Help From My Friends" was alright. Not as good as the Beatles'. |
Melanie Safka - Purple Haze

I don't like that Purple Haze cover at all, something about Hendrixs voice in the original makes it so much better. Also electric>acoustic on that song.
|
Speaking of Neil, did anyone hear the album he did with Pearl Jam?
Mirror Ball? I just got ahold of it, it's pretty sweet /a few pages late PS- The Mamas and The Papas are eternal. I never get sick of "Go Where You Wanna Go" or whatever its title is |
Thanks for that Livewired, good band. Love the singing.

Meh, I like it. I think she has a cool voice. |
Thanks Livewired!
Worst cover ever= Tori Amos = Raining Blood.
It's possibly the worst thing I've ever heard. Best would go to Byrds - Mr. Tambourine Man
You guys keep forgeting that Aretha Franklin - Respect is a cover. I know it isn;t classic rock, but it's just an awsome song. |
Aretha does an awesome cover of The Weight.

I would consider it CR dispite knowing better I couldn't imagine her doing The Weight |
Want me to upload it? It's a great cover, she makes it a bit funkier.

Yea, she definantly did it her own way.
I like the guitar licks in the background. |

The Byrds do a lot of great covers. They definitely out do Dylan on some of his originals aswell as others. "You Ain't Going Nowhere", "Pretty Boy Floyd", "Turn! Turn! Turn!", "My Back Pages", etcx -- all great covers. |

IMO many of Dylan's songs are out-done on the covers, obviously the Byrds songs you mentioned, plus i like Hendrix's version of All Along the Watchtower better, and (remember this is just MY opinion) GNR's version of Knockin' on Heaven's Door. It sure is impressive just how many of his songs have influenced other bands enough for them to make covers though. |

I think it has something to do with his voice. GReat on Like a ROllin Stone, otherwise, meh. Especially know. Dylan just sounds Awful |
I hated GnR's version of Knockin' On Heaven's Door...Dylan's is so much better.
|
Did anyone ever upload those Wheels of Fire tracks for Schyma, because I can have them up in a bit.
|

I can't listen to Axl Roses voise for more than 1 minute anyways, but that song just gives me a headache. |
